Guess it depends on how you define "the same". I'm not a chemist so I couldn't begin to tell you how truly identical they are. But up in your head (where it counts most IMHO) they're pretty much the same. The buzz was basically the same as chasing pot with Bacardi (another foul fuel IMHO, but I was young i had no taste). Of course like I said, I could bairly manage to drink the stuff. Serious drinking of absinthe could give you a very different experiece.
