In other words running is the right stategy no matter what the motive of the attacker is. He has little incentive to shoot them--why not just let them go and move to a new target in another location? Plus, it is hard to hit a running person with a handgun assuming that is what he had. Yep. Especially since anyone who enters a criminal's car is 99% dead.

i guess you missed the posts in this thread that show the transcript
the AG mentioned the rapes to larry off-air, and larry reported it with gusto--no other media source was given the information and i don't think the sherriffs would have released it

"The sweetest words in this entire story. In the Old West, they would have propped him up in his open coffin and had the town take pictures of him. Rough justice is often the best justice. Yea it is truly sad that Nano technology is not available. I mean the type that is projected to totally fix any wound or disease and make humans virtually immortal...
Then we could strap this P.O.S. to a Post and shoot him in the cajones on a daily basis for eternity!
Nuff said!

the AG mentioned the rapes to larry off-air, and larry reported it with gusto--no other media source was given the information and i don't think the sherriffs would have released itI live here. I watched the first press conference, live, with the Sheriff. A reporter asked if the girls had been raped. The Sheriff said they were going to be taken to a hospital to be checked. He said he'd hold another press conference later that afternoon with more information, which I missed. He did NOT try to hide the fact that they may have been raped.
I am NO defender of the press, so please don't read more into this....

Thanks for the ping gummy...am so sickened..and they've been showing pics of the girls on tv..do you think that's appropriate? I was so hoping that they would not be raped or hurt. I got the feeling he was just using them as some kind of hostages back in the beginning...was just very heartbreaking.. People just don't know until they are parents of a victim....the pain just comes back every time ya hear about a new case.
I'm sorry I've not been to haven yet....server went down last night and just got back online a few minutes ago. Unless the server goes down again, won't check in until tonight..

Hey did you hear about the serial killer in baton rouge? The women are being allowed to conceal carry by the gov I think. Totally excellant...now to get it full time FOR EVERYONE who qualifies of course..

I watched the deputy sherrif's conferences too, and it was apparent to me that he was evading the question of whether the girls were raped. He did not state that information would be disclosed later, and in fact he did not disclose it later.
In a closed case, a medical check would only be required to render treatment--the result and nature of which should be confidential.

Thanks for the return.. I would have sworn that the AG said it first... amazing how we all hear and see differently... I just checked out King's program schedule for tonight.. I thought that he might have a follow-up on it, but he has Sylvia Brown scheduled... she is the "seer" I think... would'nt it be great if she could "see" Elizabeth Smart???? Thanks... Betti

Kim, I did hear about the Baton Rouge serial killer and the urging of the "powers that be" for women to carry. I believe "pack" was the word used on Fox News. It was good to hear.

And I wonder how I would have done in my police work if it hadn't been for judo, saved my bacon (no pun intended) many times.
Hopefully one of these days I'll open my own school, maybe after I retire.
Best wishes!
