A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 8/1/02

Posted on 08/01/2002 6:51:05 PM PDT by rintense

President Bush was granted trade promotion authority today by the Senate, and later thanked them for working so hard on this issue. Bush also met with Jordan's King Abdullah and discussed the war on terror, the crisis in Israel, and future actions against Iraq. Although King Abdullah made it clear that an attack on Iraq could lead to unrest in the entire region, Bush made it clear that he would not change his mind regarding a regime change. On the lighter side, Bush signed the Nursing Reinvestment Act of 2002, which will create federal assistance programs for nursing students as well as support a public service campaign encouraging people to become nurses. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

That the NY Times would roast a Democrat is a big surprise

Not really .. I hear Hillary is still holding a grudge with Torricelli

Watch as the 2004 elections starts up .. one by one Hilda will use the NYT and other press to pluck off the Dem Candiates ..one by one

OMG! I have REFINISHED enough furniture to stock up an Ethan Allen's franchise!! I love turning something made out of cheap pine into something that looks like rosewood or cherry! Better yet, I love scraping off ten layers of cheap paint to find Walnut or Maple underneath!!! Oh the ecstacy!

I now have a sewing cabinet that belonged to my Great Grandmother. It's mahogany and is in need of refinishing. While prowling 'country yard sales' I found an exact mate to my existing sewing cabinet. $20 Yahoo! I plan on refinishing both and using them as nightstands in my bedroom. :o)

Whadda ya think

Looks like Dubya's thinking to himself: Keep talking that $h!t towelhead and I'm gonna have to b!tch slap you.

On the other hand, here's a song that makes me think of Dubya and Laura (keep in mind the early years when you read the lyrics, I guess). It's "Something Wonderful" by Rogers and Hammerstein...

"This is a man who thinks with his heart,
his heart is not always wise...
This is a man who stumbles and falls,
but this is a man who tries..
This is a man you forgive and forgive,
and help and protect as long as you live.

He will not always say,
What you would have him say...
But now and then he'll say,
Something Wonderful.

The thoughtless things he'll do,
will hurt and worry you...
Then all at once he'll do,
Something Wonderful.

He has a thousand dreams that won't come true...
You know that he believes in them,
and that's enough for you.

You'll always go along,
defend him when he's wrong...
And tell him when he's strong,
He is wonderful.

He'll always need your love,
and so he'll get your love...
A man who needs your love,
can be....Wonderful...."

Remember all sufferings should be used for the betterment of our lives. The pope suffers with his parkinsonism without a complaint and there are so many physically ill people who accept their illnesses with love.

Don't allow the devil to get hold of your spirits. Live by hope. "Hope means living with the conviction that God isn't finished with us yet and that every moment furnishes the grace to become more like God. To live by hope is to live with confidence, counting on the fidelity of God. Hope inspires us to see life as an unending invitation to holiness. One of the chief enemies of hope is fatalism, living with a sense of dread. We know how easy it is to become dejected and despondent. Hope flashes the "no vacancy" sign at the approach of despair or defeatism. Hope rejoices in the possible and banks on the potential." (Magnificat August 2002)

Lawgirl, I'll pray for you, if you pray for me when I get down in the dumps. This week has been tough what with the bombing at the University of Jerusalem. I have prayed so hard and for so long for peace in the Middle East and everytime there is a set back, I am amazed that I cannot even fathom God's plans in this mess. To me it seems so easy-good should overcome evil. But in these turbulent times it appears that evil is winning. Yet, hope and my neverending faith in God keeps me going. And I know that I will not fail b/c God is with me and I know that if I give all my worries and pains to God he will take care of me.

I will keep you and your husband in my prayers--remember despondency and despair probably are heightened with your long hours of study. Get plent of rest.

My Great Grandmother's will grace my bedside. She was such a kind and dear soul. Had hair down to her knees that she braided and wrapped in a bun every morning. She had a pocketbook of pennies for candy (back when it cost a penny). She always had Luden's Cherry Coughdrops I would fake ill over just to savor one. She had a precious way about her. I have her Bible too. Has all kinds of little notes and writing in the margins.

Peace WILL come to the Middle East. Just pray, and trust God. He said He's going to return and He doesn't lie. It's going to be one awesome sight when He does, and I sure wouldn't want to be running AGAINST His people when He does.

Hang in there, trust in Him.
