>>I've heard the safest course of action--unlike seen in the movies--is not to yell "stop or I'll shoot" or to try to hold them at gunpoint....rather if one feels threatened with his life--and you know the person is a prowler (not your own family member!), just to shoot--and save questions for later. What do you think?<<

Holding a gun on a bad guy means you may be willing to kill him.

Shooting him dead proves it.

Shouting a warning is nice and all that, but do you really want to bet your life that the bad guy, once warned by you, will not be able to get the gun away from you and kill you?

I'd rather not take that bet.

So, the answer to your question is easy, "if I met a prowler in my living room in the middle of the night....I will introduce him to his Maker, no questions asked." And, I might add, "keep shooting until he presents no more threat to me or my family (i.e., dead).

Killing an evil bad man and being alive to tell the police about how you protected your family is a lot better than debating the bad guys lawyers.
