...I do believe it's pertinent that the $100,000 McAuliffe allegedly invested wasn't even his own but was a payoff by Global Crossing and Winnick!!

Wow! I learn something new everytime I click on your threads. Keep it up Mud, you're doing a great job.:-)

Following the defeat of AlBoor?
Didn't MotherJones try to get RID of McAuliff as the head of the DNC; because, in MJ's opin McAuliff ruined the 'Rat party -- hence -- this revelation of truth??
Supposedly this was meant to take 'em down, post haste.
Seems I recall that's what happened here with this article, alright.

Also seems I recall how *shocked* many of us were Rush included) that a farrrr Left, Liberal-Socialist rag like MJs would print such a damning article covering one of their one?
Very UN-Clinton-like behavior, we thought.
Might be the start of *something* bigger, a new trend even?

Admittedly wishful thinking; &, in hindsight?
Probably another skillfully executed divergent ploy to distract attentions from something bigger yet, knocking around in this clown's closet?

However as it turned out?
Person or persons unknown saw it otherwise, as it were.
The mysterious *they* appeared to have this attempted coup to oust the louse quashed almost from the very get-go.

I clearly recall thinking it was quite obvious a vigorous & concerted effort was being made to keep Terry McAuliff right where he was.

...either that; or, we'd been suckered yet again.

That's why we like having you around, OmniscientMachineMan...yer ability to connect the dots!! Folks tend to forget that what is best for the Clintons ain't necessarily what is best for the RAT Party. Think about it...McAuliffe is Clinton's hand-picked guy and Slick pulled a PowerPlay to get The Punk named as DNC Chairman. Why was that sooo important to Slick Willie? I posit that T-Mac's goal is to get DerSchleekMeister back in the White House, with the HildaBeast sitting in the Oval Office this time.

But how's that work for AlGore, D'a$$hole, Li'l Dick Gephardt, JFKerry, and LIEberman?! And considering the baggage that McAwful carries with him, how does having McAuliffe as the DemonRAT Party Boss benefit the RATS? Fact is, there are a lotta RATS who'll benefit from the FallfromGrace of McAuliffe, and therein lies the Right's opportunity to bring McAwful to his knees!!

Sure, the Clintonistas won that round, but the fight's far from over, IMHO. As long as McAuliffe's the Chairman of the DNC, his primary concern will be to work for the interests of the Clintons, and whereas the Clinton's success benefits the RATS, all the better. However, whenever the DemonRATS' and Clintons' interests are at odds, do you really believe the RATS think they can trust T-Mac and the Clintons to do what's best for the Party?! I think not.

"Global Crossing Bought Out By Chi-Com's Li Ka-Shing!!"

"The relationship between Hutchison and Global Crossing isn't a new one. The two already had a 50-50 joint venture, and Hutchison owned $400 million in Global's convertible preferred stock. Meanwhile, the chairman of the Hong Kong conglomerate, Li Ka-shing, is one of the largest individual shareholders of CIBC, which invested $41 million in Global Crossing for a 25% stake when it was first starting out. CIBC also has a banking relationship with Hutchison and has formed joint ventures with the Li family in the past. Like Global Crossing's founder and chairman Gary Winnick, CIBC has been criticized in the past for reaping huge gains on Global's stock and cashing out while ordinary investors saw their shares sink to practically nothing. CIBC and Global had been cozy for a long time. Five CIBC employees had served on Global's board between 1998 and 2000, three of whom had formerly worked with Winnick at Drexel Burnham Lambert in the 1980s. The employees dumped their shares in Global before they started to tank. For some, though, it's not Li's ties to CIBC that are disconcerting; it's his ties to the Chinese government. Back when Hutchison made its first offer in February, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R., Calif.) sent a letter to Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld objecting to the deal because of Li's close link to Chinese President Jiang Zemin. Because Global Crossing's clients include the U.S. military, the Department of Defense and other government agencies, Rohrabacher said the sale would be a "national security nightmare." "

Reckon Li Ka-Shing and Terry McAuliffe got into this joint venture about the same time...ain't that special?!

Somebody just emailed this to me, and I wanted to pass it on...

"What's a Military Family Worth?"
(by Rush Limbaugh, March 11, 2002)

I think the vast differences in compensation between the victims of the September 11th casualty, and those who die serving the country in uniform, are profound. No one is really talking about it either because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11th. Well, I just can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11th attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million. If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct benefit, half of which is taxable. Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs.

If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt. Keep in mind that some of the people that are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough. We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11th families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those killed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over fifty years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime."-Adlai E. Stevenson, Jr. Every time when a pay raise comes up for the military they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low rent housing.

However our own U. S. Congress just voted themselves a raise, and many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one-time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month and most are now equal to be millionaires plus. They also do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7 you may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed you in harms way receive a pension of $15,000 per month. I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.

"When do we finally do something about this ??" If this doesn't seem fair to you, it is time to forward this to as many people as you can."

"Time to dredge up the Chinagate cast of characters."

I've been searching for the "ChinaGate For Dummies" thread but have had no luck so far...in the meantime, check out this offering from ChaseR....

"Clinton National Security Scandal and Coverup"

"...we move to the other eight major technology breaches revealed in the Cox Report. All of these were not only first discovered during the Clinton administration, they also happened on Clinton's watch:

1. The transfer of the so-called Legacy Codes containing data on 50 years of U.S. nuclear weapons development including over 1,000 nuclear tests;

2. The sale and diversion to military purposes of hundreds of high performance computers enabling China to enhance its development of nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and advanced military aviation equipment;

3. The theft of nuclear warhead simulation technology enhancing China's ability to perfect miniature nuclear warheads without actual testing;

4. The theft of advanced electromagnetic weapons technology useful in the development of anti-satellite and anti-missile systems;

5. The transfer of missile nose cone technology enabling China to substantially improve the reliability of its intercontinental ballistic missiles;

6. The transfer of missile guidance technology (by President Clinton to China) enabling China to substantially improve the accuracy of its ballistic missiles–these same missiles that are targeting US cities;

7. The theft of space-based radar technology giving China the ability to detect our previously undetectable submerged submarines; and

8. The theft of some other "classified thermonuclear weapons information" which "the Clinton administration" (not the Cox committee) "has determined...cannot be made public." "

If anybody can locate the "ChinaGate For Dummies" thread, I'd appreciate them linking it to this thread.

That would not surprise me a bit that Global Crossing paid off Mcauliffe. I was watching MSNBC this evening on account of Hardball mentioning that MCauliffe may run for government office. This guy should be behind bars. Our own congress members threw Jim Trafficant in jail. What's wrong with making more cell room for MCauliffe?

"Thanks for the heads up!"

LOL!!! So, I give you...

"Global Crossing companies' clients include the U.S. military, the Department of State and other U.S. government agencies. In addition, the U.S. military and other U.S. agencies, as well as NATO use the companies' fiber-optic cables to conduct communications. In July, 2001, Global Crossing won a services contract from the Department of Defense to provide an advanced wide area network Internet service to the Defense Research and Engineering Network [DREN], which links more than 6,000 scientists and engineers at defense laboratories, test centers, universities and industry sites. DREN has also been reported to potentially link every major U.S. military command, and would potentially risk the security of all "gatekeepers" of major U.S. national security communications networks. The DREN contract was recently reopened for bidding because of Global Crossing's shortcomings. However, in the February 14, 2002, New York Times, Ms. Mary Moore, the spokeswoman for Global Crossing, said, "We think we are still in the running for this award." Needless to say, that contract under a company owned by Li Ka-shing would be a national security nightmare.

"The purchase of Global Crossing would enable Mr. Li, who has previously faced monopoly-related charges in Hong Kong, of manipulating the international market. And the ownership of Global Crossing would enable Hutchison and the Chinese to gain valuable insight and access to developments in the industry that could hinder competitiveness and cutting-edge leadership of U.S. companies in the international market. Above all other issues, I must underscore that a thorough investigation of this proposed sale is of utmost importance for U.S. national security. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss a full investigation by the Department of Defense as soon as possible. In addition, I would like a copy, in classified and unclassified form, of a study written by SOUTHCOM during the period when Gen. Wesley Clark was the CINC, related to strategic threats to the United States in Latin America, including Hutchison control of the Panama Canal. The contact person in my Washington office, who is conducting a preliminary Congressional investigation on this matter, is Mr. Al Santoli. Please contact me through Mr. Santoli at 202-225-2415. Thank you for your consideration of this vital matter."

...and YOU--perhaps the Smartest, most-interconnected Female FReeper goin'--give me in return...

"Thanks for the heads up!"

Months ago, Dana Rohrabacher tried to stop this deal through Rumsfeld and Rice. As I recall, Rohrbacher also tried to stop Ka-Shing from getting the Panama Canal deal. IMHO, Li Ka-Shing could become a serious threat to our national security. McAuliffe is not in the same league but also should be exposed.
