This Times of India article is the first english language article available on this development. I was glad not to have to translate the whole thing from Turkish. Additional developments as reported in Turkish papers below:

The politicians and top generals met with the president and have decided to ask the parliament to allow foreign troops on our soil, as well as allow the stationing of Turkish troops on foreign soil. Ecevit is straddling an interesting line. Some of which sounds like BS. Won't Turkey benefit immensely from cooperating with USA?

Ankara says the country already incurred losses of some 40 billion dollars (euros) due to trade sanctions against Baghdad since the 1991 Gulf War. A strike against Iraq would probably be disruptive, but I would think that a change of regimes in Iraq would be good for Turkey in the long run (i.e., the sanctions currently in effect could eventually be lifted).

Very interesting.

Have you ever heard of a more publicized attack in advance? Lord God, either do it or shut up. If this is psychological warfare, it is failing miserably.
But then, I remember the long months before Desert Storm when Pat Buchanan among others were predicting all the 20,000 American body bags. The Iraqi people will probably dance in the streets when Saddam is gone.
