...but Charlie Brown trailing Beavis and Butthead is a minor travesty which reflects very poorly on our culture.
Why? "Peanuts" may have been good and worthy back in the late '60's and early '70's, but let's be honest for a moment - after that it turned into a giant advertising machine. Is there anything that Charlie Schulz wouldn't put Snoopy and Charlie Brown to work selling? Seriously, I think about the only things that were missing from the stable were "Peanuts"-brand cigarettes, whiskey, and maxi-pads ;)
Now, there's nothing wrong with making money, don't get me wrong. But I think they're disqualified from "beloved cartoon character" rankings, and should be entered into "beloved ad pitchmen" rankings instead... :^)
That would seriously reflect very poorly on our culture.
