I hate to be and old fuddy-duddy about all this...

Heh ;)

...but Charlie Brown trailing Beavis and Butthead is a minor travesty which reflects very poorly on our culture.

Why? "Peanuts" may have been good and worthy back in the late '60's and early '70's, but let's be honest for a moment - after that it turned into a giant advertising machine. Is there anything that Charlie Schulz wouldn't put Snoopy and Charlie Brown to work selling? Seriously, I think about the only things that were missing from the stable were "Peanuts"-brand cigarettes, whiskey, and maxi-pads ;)

Now, there's nothing wrong with making money, don't get me wrong. But I think they're disqualified from "beloved cartoon character" rankings, and should be entered into "beloved ad pitchmen" rankings instead... :^)

Except that ever single cartoon character on this list was invented in order to generate income for the "artist". And, you think Charlie Brown is somehow less noble than Beavis and Butthead in this regard?
