Bush Twins Carded, Beer Confiscated

First twins Barbara and Jenna Bush apparently learned little from their scrape last year with Texas lawmen, who were called by the Bush-hating manager at an Austin Tex Mex restaurant who spotted the underage duo ordering Margaritas with fake ID.

They've been luckier this summer but not a whole lot more careful, according to a source at one Arlington, Va., pub not far from the White House.

The bar, Iota's, was carding very thoroughly one recent Thursday night, so the presidential twins' "fake IDs must be sweet," the source tells the magazine Washingtonian Online.

"When a bartender recognized the twins, he took their beers away," the e-zine reports. "But the twins still stuck around."

The Bush girls, who turn legal later this year, reportedly visited the bar with "a pack of pals" to see a folk band called Brown Couch, whose guitarist attends Yale with Barbara.

You know some slimy Democrat strategist is going to come up with some negative ad about Bush with words like: "How can Bush claim to be for family values, when his own children don't even respect the law?"

You got it - and with their luck, I wouldn't be surprised if such an ad showed with the girls on tape at some bar either drinking or asking for a drink. I certainly wouldn't put it past Carville.

Maybe that's true there - it sure isn't true here in California. They are pretty strict about enforcing the age laws in bars here...

Same here in Florida. You can be on your own private property, and be under 21, and get cited for possession of alcohol by a minor. You can be thrown out and cited at a bar. Some group here in Tallahassee is trying to get the City Commission to pass a law making it an arrestable offense if caught with a drink in your hand and being underage. Right now, you get cited, and have to appear in court or whatever. Some people want the law to change so that the person is taken downtown and put in a cell. The commission and cops are against it, so it wont happen.

Your graphics don't seem to be welcomed here anymore. That's a shame. Some people can't take a joke.

Even worse when they can use Texas's tough underage drinking law that Bush signed as a hypocritical attempt to call him a...a...hypocrite. Damn where's that thesaurus.

Like it or not, times have changed and NOW it is ILLEGAL.
It is perhaps the most ridiculous and stupid law in this nation, and also one that violates at least the spirit of the Tenth Amendment (since the feds blackmail states into keeping their drinking ages artificially high). Frankly, I'd like to see one or both of them come out and say that...perhaps it would provoke a debate on the subject.

Not in Texas, he wasn't. Drinking age went from 21 to 18 in 1973, W was legal by ~5-6 years then.

AppyPappy sayeth:

He was legally drinking at their age.

The reason this wouldn't work against Bush in a campaign is that thousands of parents have kids in college and they know their kids are drinking alcohol.

It would cause more empathy toward Bush on the part of the moderate parents, than it would cause angst. That's why I don't believe it will be used as a campaign ploy.

Wait a minute. Don't these girls have SS pigs surrounding them whereever they go?

Seems to me that cute little Chel's had bodyguards with her constantly.

"Note to W: Please ground them this time, so that they'll know not to pull this stunt again..."

LOL...how do you ground 20 year old college students that aren't even living at home? The leader of the free world is powerless before his twin girls..hehe:)

These two girls are a disgrace; besides being just plain stupid. The total lack of respect for the law, their parents, this nation, me . . . is unbelievable.

I hate to say it, but Chelsea appears to be 10 times the lady either one of these are.

The 21 drinking age is moronic nanny-statism at its worst. Good for them.
