Council on Reconciliation and Restorative and Transformative Justice:
STATUS OF TOM CAVANAGH AWARD The Tom Cavanagh Award was created was first presented as part of the Restorative Justice Week 2001 activities. It honors the work of one of this movements passionate leaders and strives to recognize the difference he has made in the lives of countless, especially around his home community. The award was first presented on behalf of the Friends Committee on Restorative Justice (FCRJ) and the intention had been to present this award every year as part of the annual Restorative Justice Week activities. This award was clearly desinged as a special tribute to Tom's work in Colorado and was intended to honor those who are following the lead of Tom and working to change the paradigm of justice in Larimer County. Friends Committtee on Restorative Justice moved their headquarters out of Larimer County in the Spring 0f 2001. The original intent had been to continue the tradition of this award, but it has become clear that the separation from the direct work in the county is too serious an obstacle to overcome. The work of first FCRJ, and more recently the Council on Reconciliation and Restorative and Transformative Justice (CORRTJ) has grown in scope, thus making it impossible to do an honorable job of honoring the work being done in Larimer County. Representatives of FCRJ and CORRTJ contacted Tom and discussed our concerns and our intention to present the new award honoring the work of life and work of Ruth Morris. It was suggested that it would be more apporpriate for a group whose primary focus is in Larimer County should be the one to present the Cavanagh Award. Tom agreed and said that he would speak to the representatives of the Larimer County Restorative Justice Council and determine whether there is an interest in continuing this tradition. At the present time we are uncertain as to what decision, if any, has been made by the local Restorative Justice Council. There is support within some members of the FCRJ & CORRTJ community to continue this traidition in one form or another in the Spring of 2003. Tom has definetly been a strong voice and leader of the Restorative Justice movement and we will work with whomever is interested in keeping this tradition alive. Please contact CORRTJ for more information. |

Do you want to silence them? Please put that thought right back where it came from: We've been going through a Leftist stifling of conservative free speech for a couple of decades now, but turnabout is NOT fair play.
If you just want to "expose them" in the sense of "outing" them in your protests, then go for it. Looks like you've done a creditable job in discovering who they are.
I'm pretty sure that fivetoes means just that: Shining a bright light upon the affiliation(s) these folks have with groups that the average citizen would consider most un-American.
After that, let the chips fall!
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my President Bush ping list!. . .don't be shy.
I think all of US can see why protesting is one BIG important issue for a Chapter...I won't even bother posting this to the "party pooper" ...
As witnesses can testify, after I lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance, which I invite them to join in, I remind them that it is by the sacrifice of every member of the armed forces who honor the Declaration of Independence and defend the Constitution that they get to stand on their corner and we get to stand on ours.
Do you want to silence them?
By no means do I mean to silence them. I would like a little truth and honesty on their part. For a few weeks they sported some rather young, good looking young females holding signs about he environmet and education vs war. These girls were probably (my opinion) enamoured with the thought of protesting the war. After a couple of weeks of letting them know who they were hanging out with, they somehow no longer show up.
I view these protests as street theater, but I also realize there is a cultural war in progress. I just want well defined enemies. On June 22nd they brought in a school bus from the mexicopeace organization. I thought it was odd that they were importing foreigners to protest our defence policy.
I want to know who funds these folks especially if it concerns NDO (Non Domestic Organizations) that have no business interfering with our sovereignty. In my mind it is no different than accepting political contributions from Red China.
