Probably there will be some mosques who will get the money. However, I doubt any terrorist group is going to try to do this, as there are rules for qualification, including demonstrating effectiveness of the program. Somehow, I don't think shipping money to al Qaeda is going to qualify as a faith-based initiative. I do think that the government is a little more on top of things than that.

Now, if there is a mosque which has a program to combat addiction, and it is effective, then perhaps they will get some money. I think it highly unlikely, though.

Not worth the risk.

Don't believe for a second that they wouldn't use the money for indoctrination.

Our democratic government

I cringed a little at this phrase, and I don't why we find it coming out of Republican mouths as frequently as we do. If we were a democratic (as opposed to a republican) form of government Al Gore would be President, not GW.

If God has such a special concern - why are they poor to begin with?

If God cared about those who mourn why would there be mourning?

If God cared about the poor in spirit...

If God cared about those who hunger and thirst for righteousness...

Your complaint against God is very interesting.

I'm disappointed that -- even when "preaching to the choir" -- Mr. Bush has apparently taken to heart his handlers' advice (I'm guessing) to lay off "the Jesus Christ stuff."

How sad.

Remarkable, for two reasons:
1) It's USA Today
2)The piece is more than a month old (How did we miss this?)

Predictable, in that Bush's single (albeit faint) mention of "Jesus" was left on the editing room floor.

It doesn't disappoint me that much. W is the president not a pastor. I've sat through a whole lot of messages that have left that Jesus Christ stuff out right in my own church. Now that bothers me.

Well, then, so much for the bully pulpit. After all, we have an election ahead of us. Can't afford to get too "religious," and definitely not in an exclusionary sort of way! </sarcasm> :-P

Our President certainly has not taken an 'easy path,' but what a difference this one man's faith is making in this nation. I am praying that God continues to give him 'strength for the journey ahead,' which I sense will not be an easy one.

AMEN BUMP to your prayer!

Since there's all this talk about God, did anyone else notice that after the last miner was rescued and the officials were making their final comments, everyone of them thanked God (for the whole world to hear). Shocking! I have a question...If atheists don't believe in God, why are they so afraid of the mere mention of this name?

I have to cringe whenever I head a Republican talking about "social justice".

Would you prefer "social injustice"?

So are you Bush Bashers.

And somehow I don't think anybody could make you laugh.
