Fortunately the unit is like brand new and it was fairly easy to clean the smooth surfaces. The problem was under the carburetor where there are nooks and crannies that I couldn't get to, and underneath the unit....the oil is seeping out from under there so it must be pretty well drenched. I think if I put a light degreaser on and then clean it down with minimal water and a small brush, I can probably get all of it off. It's not like a nasty dirty car engine. :) I know it blew into the generator vent holes and I wonder if I should open that area up and try to clean it better. I am going to read manual and see what I have to do to get to the brushes and stuff.

For heaven sakes, Misty, change out of that dress before you go messing with all that oily stuff. Oil will ruin the fabric!
