When I was in the army back in 69-72 I was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. My first year I was on this island connected to the mainland by a causeway then the remainder of my tour I was at Ft. Clayton on the mainland. The barracks were 3 story structures and the roofs and eves were made out of pottery tile. The bats would live up in these eves and then every evening they would swarm out by the thousands. Really cool to watch. Every once in a while if we had a screen down one of those little suckers would fly into the barracks and then it was every man for himself with a pillow. LOL!
