July 26, 2002 -- The stock collapse of AOL Time Warner yesterday is dragging a virtual who's who of media moguls into pikersville.
A growing accounting scandal sent shares of the world's largest media company to their lowest level since the early 1990s.

His ex-wife Jane Fonda was much luckier and escaped major damage from the wipeout. In her prenuptial pact with Ted, she got a maximum of $10 million in AOL stock, but in the past year she gave away most of it to environmental causes and liberal Democrats running for public office. Q: Who lasted longer as a born-again Christian, "Hanoi" Jane Fonda, or Robert Allen "Bob Dylan" Zimmerman ?

Quite a climb down for ol' Ted.

I wonder if Ted is gonna call up the U.N. and ask for some of his money back...

I should search this site. I said 1-2 years ago that AOL was a garbage stock, especially at 150 times earnings and a crappy service.

couldn't happen to a better guy. maybe he'll be forced to unload his ranch land at a reasonable price, after bidding legitimate ranchers out of the market. if he needs to raise a little money, something tells me he and jane in a dunking tank would bring back most of that 10 billion.

Couldn't happen to a nicer fella..stomache turner

I don't think he will. After giving them a lot of money he wiil not ask for any refunds due to the fact that he still expects to be given the title of their own tin god.
But whatever, wake me when something happens that I should be concerned about.

Jane Fonda... gave away most of it to environmental causes and liberal Democrats running for public office. Look at the bright side. Those to whom she gave the stock have a scrunch less money than they once did!
To: SlickWillard
Maybe Jane's Hollywood friends can give a major telethon to raise money for "Homeless Ted".

I wonder if Ted is gonna call up the U.N. and ask for some of his money back... Assuming he even sent a check.

I hope the people Jane Fonda gave her stock to are very despondent and do something stupid.

And that is precisely why Steve Case unloaded it to Time Warner.
To: gridlock
I think he put the money in some sort of account and the UN was supposed to get the interest from it every year. Interest rates being low, however, they aren't getting as much as they originally thought.
Ah, schadenfreude, one of life's little pleasures!!
