Oh great ... we're losing ALL our maufacturing/value-added production ability to an odd assortment of 3rd World corrupt communist/dictatorial regimes like China who have sworn to kill us, and these STUPID FOOLS think the answer to the ever growing 4 Trillion $$$ TRADE DEFICIT is to 'buy a bigger frickin' wagon'.

As I said before the election, the ONLY real difference between the Gore and Bush agenda, is that Gore was going to take our nation off the cliff at 140mph and Bush would take us off the cliff at 80.

G-d help us.

The trade deficit was already @ almost 1/2 Trillion. I'm sure there is a little bit of America we can mortgage for a few more beads and trinkets.

Every time I have questioned GW's decisions (which hasn't happened all that often), I have come to see that he is like a chess player (15 moves ahead--already thought out)..only better.

He looks like a chess-playing gorilla to me.

Guess that little comment by Daschle that he's in 'no hurry' to get this legislation done before recess wasn't received that well!!!

""Congress has failed to authorize fast track authority, since the '04 (94)Republican takeover of the House, correct? It was seen as a bad deal, a power grab by the executive branch.""

It wasn't the exeutive branch, it was that particular president who wasn't trusted.

....subsidies seem unnecessary.. - TOTALLY! I am just gonna have to find a union to join, that's all there is to it. They run this country anyway. If you can't beatem, join em. Even if they are criminal organizations. So what? They will be the only group with any "benefits" one day anyway....that the rest of the "working stiffs" will be paying for.

"One of the last sticking points was whether workers laid off when their plants are moved overseas should also receive benefits."

"Moved overseas"?
When did the Rio Grande become a "sea"?

But will an Administration that has proven it is protectionist use fast track authority to benefit or squelch free trade?

I guess you could say Mexico became "overseas" when U.S. CEO's finally realized enough of our laws and regulations had been sufficiently compromised legislatively in order to safely move their factories 'over the river' and thus avoid having to pay (American) human beings a decent living wage, as had come to be civil and lawful practice here in the USA.

What I would find absolutely hilarious irony, if it were not so devious and disingenuous, is that none other than Jay Rockefeller, brother of 'The David (who-would-be-King-of-the-world) Rockefeller and master designer of this greedy evil Glo-baloney scheme against the common citizens and SOVEREIGNTY of the United States, would be the one quoted as expressing concern for American Workers who will are most affected by their expanded Free Power Trade grab.
