Atlanta (AP) -- U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney said her radio campaign ad comparing her challenger to an angry, out-of-control cop is not an unfair attack ad because it targets the judicial record that the opponent has touted in her own ads.
Campaign manager Bill Banks said the radio spots, which accuse former DeKalb County judge Denise Majette of abusing her authority, are not negative.
Banks said in a number of cases, Majette's record indicates she took actions that were harsh and vindictive.
He said, "What we're trying to do is get people's attention to her abuse of power."
McKinney's campaign referred to a 1998 case in which Majette sentenced a woman who had been convicted of speeding in a jury trial to two days in jail and fined her one-thousand dollars. The sentence was later vacated by a higher court.
The ad says, "Abuse of power is sometimes an angry, out-of-control cop beating up a teenager in California. Sometimes it's an angry, out-of-control judge like Denise Majette."
Majette spokesman Bob Doyle said McKinney's charges are exactly the sort of over-the-top comments that people have come to expect from Cynthia McKinney.
Doyle said, "She divides, practices slash-and-burn politics and sacrifices her credibility in Washington. That's why Denise is running."
If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
Gee, Cynthia calls her opponent out of control and angry...
Race card alert! The nitwit commie played the race card.
It's not the same because Hilliard's district has a large rural component. In general, rural blacks are much more conservative than the constituents of Cindy's district. They are all gov workers or on the gov dole there. She has a safe seat.
Here's what's missing from this article:
Rep. McKinney, who is African-American, made an unflattering comparison of the Inglewood police officer on the widely-viewed videotape and Judge Majette, both of whom are caucasian.
I wrote this before even confirming that Majette is indeed white. Well, was my presumption wrong?
I think she's black ...
What's even more sad about this whole mess is that Majette is indeed black. But to hear McKinney tell it, not only is Majette white, but she's a [gasp!] Republican to boot!
She's served as a good state court judge. McKinney is continuing her national campaign of slash and burn lying and obsfucation to make her enemies look bad and to make her (McKinney) look good.
Or to put it in plain English, McKinney is full of used food.

I'll let you judge for yourself. Here's a snip from her webpage. I will note that Earl Hilliard had a campaign ad that morphed his opponent, Artur Davis, from a black man to a white man.

Speeding alone? Nope. She got someone for multiple wreckless driving citations (and I'm talking eight to ten in less than a year) and causing a couple of major accidents, but nothing like McKinney is making it out to be. McKinney's full of it.
She ain't married, but last I heard she's got a Pakistani boyfriend. (and no, I'm not making this up!) So I'm sure she's getting (or at least has gotten) laid regularly...
You've gotta be kidding - speculating on her sex life? There are some pictures I don't want stuck in my mind!

Did he win?
