Northrop Grumman has briefed senior Pentagon advisers on a concept for helping the Air Force ready two squadrons of its B-2 stealth bombers in time for a potential U.S. war against Iraq, according to sources familiar with the plan

Lemme translate... Pentagon has no use for B-2's for Iraq, so the company itself took the unusual step of creating a plan. This is effectively salesmanship for their no longer relevant and overpriced weapon system, much paid for by cutting manpower and soldiers on the ground. We keep building these things, even though they are unnecessary and the money could be used - gasp - for increasing manpower and divisions. True, soldiers don't "donate" much to politicians, but even some unnecessary systems can't be tucked under the radar screen, so to speak. For example, tthe Crusader artillery system. Therefore, Northrup is trying to make the bomber relevant to maintain its profits.

The Iraqi's have had more than a decade to shoot down one of our non-stealth fighters which enforce our no-fly zones over Iraq daily, and they still haven't managed to bring one down. Against even moderate stealth, their odds further deteriorate.

It's almost like watching Darwinism in process. Entire middle-eastern nations are too ignorant, arrogant, and beligerent to correctly percieve that their very survival depends upon not making the U.S. "too" mad.

Heck, we're not even in a shooting war over Iraq right now and yet we own their own airspace.

Stealth bomber advocates say the massive weapons-carrying potential of the stealthy B-2 could be the administration's ace in the hole, if 16 or so aircraft are used from the first hour of war and beyond.

I thought the B-1's were the real workhorses in terms of bomb capacity.

I don't care what it costs. Get them ready, even if it means taking funds from the homosexuals and abortionists who need it. :)

One B-52; one atomic bomb; end of problem.
