Stupid Party

The kind with a fill-in governor who decides that his defining moment will be to raise the cigarette tax to balance the budget, a Republican House that passes it and the whole bunch patting themselves on the back like this is a great achievement.

Could be worse. In Illinois the State GOP chairman (Lee Daniels, a State Senator) was forced out of his chairmanship because he was using state-paid staff (i.e., taxpayer-paid) in his re-election campaign. That was a month ago, and the party is viewed as so corrupt that no one else will take the job.

The one businessman who appeared willing to take the job was vetoed by U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald (R-Ill), because the businessman is pro-choice and pro-O'Hare expansion, both positions that Fitzgerald opposes. Everyone else who's been asked has turned down the job.

I've been inundated with pledge requests from the Republican Party (both Pennsylvania and national) for the past couple of years and I've been sending the Pennsylvania Republican Party e-mails and letters with one simple question - Who are you going to groom as a replacement for Arlen Spector???

I've never received a reply - although I keep getting phone calls and mailings asking for my money. I've told them that I can't financially support a party that says they're different than the DemonRats - but whose actions do not correspond with their platform . . . .

What's a good conservative to do?? I'm ready to throw in the towel and just quit trying!! The grass roots people on the street support conservative, limited, government - but all of our politicians have fallen for the media hype that since 50% of the voters receive a government check then you have to cater to them. I contend that even if 50% of the voters receive a government check at least 30% of them are conservatve (military and patriotic elderly) and at least 50% of them wouldn't bother to vote even if offered a carton of cigarettes. That means that the Republicans are catering to a constituancy that consists of only 10% of the voters. I wish that they would cater to the 40% of the voters who consider themselves conservative instead.

How dare you to speak ill of the most wonderful of all political parties the REPUBLICANS. Exspecially on this forum. You obviously have no allegience to the republican idealology. It doesn't make any difference that what you have to say is correct, you just can't speak badly of republicans. The big (R) is what is important.
