That's Thomas Crapper! And he was never knighted. And there is a lot of argument about whether he actually invented the flush toilet. See:

400 to 600 HP is CRAP.

Give me a top fuel dragster putting out 6,000 HP from a 500 cubic inch engine.

It's place of birth (New England - although some New England born are decent people, thus honorary non-Yankees)

Your comments are getting stranger and stranger. I guess you just can't get over the fact that a bunch of lumberjacks and farmers from Maine, led by a Yankee college professor, charged the southern line at Little Round Top and sent the slaveowners scampering back to Dixie, thus turning the tide in the War of Southern Aggression.

And it was invented by a Yankee! (Carrier)

The Fulton Mansion in Fulton, Tx was completed in 1876 after four years of construction at cost of $100,000, the ornate four story house was a showplace of its time. Included many innovations: central air conditioning, forced air heating, hot and cold running water. It wasn't until 1906 that Carrier, then employed by the Buffalo Forge Company, patented his first device — "An Apparatus for Treating Air."

That -is- a great story, isn't it?

The real heroes of the Civil War all wore blue, no doubt about it.

Hey ol' buddy, us Arizona types can go toe to toe with your cowboys and throw in a Gila Monster or two for good measure (don't start trash talking at us with your jackalope, because we have the antelerabbit). :)

As he is the most vociferous Yankee in our Old North State Freepers chapter, I think PL needs an official title.

What do y'all think?

some of those 4 cylinders are pushing 600-800 HP with Turbo's & NOS.

And sound like a buzz bomb. No offense HR, but the V-8 is the way to go. With Dodge reintroducing the Hemi engine after all these years, it looks like the big blocks, along with some of the sturdier small blocks are here to stay. PL, I'll even eenvite you down to Dunn/Benson one Friday night to see a run or two since we don't have a Rockingham nearby. BTW, why did they drop NHRA for IHRA?

I was reading the other day in either Super Sport or Import Tuner that a 4 cylinder broke the 200 mph record with a 7 second quarter mile. That's hauling @ss for a 4 cylinder, I think it was pushing 1200 hp., the 400 to 600 hp car's I mentioned were just the average cars. I bought a 88 Mazda MX 6 Turbo a couple of months ago and i'm turning into a nice little street rod. Don't worry about me though, i've got a 66 Chevy C-10 SWB with a rebuilt 350 4 bolt main, so don't think i've given into the 4 cyl craze. But truth be told my MX 6 Turbo will smoke any V8 I have.

What it really comes down to is that we are all, all of us, north, south, east and west stronger because we are united. We all add something to the mix.

Long live the United States and success to the Marines!

What up, homeboy? You know we "Yankees" aren't welcome in some parts, even if we haven't done anything wrong.

That's what I get for scrolling down too fast. Hey, your Itchy is much larger than my Itchy. I wish I had a big Itchy...

I gave up on this kind of thing when I realized two things - one, that figuring out where I stood was more trouble than it was worth, being born in Wisconsin and raised in Texas as I was. And two, I realized that the g**d***ed war has been over for a hundred and thirty years...

By old Jewish scientists who were sent there after running from Europe!

At least they knew where in the US to run to. ;)

Just for the record I have both, but I love to pull up beside somebody in their new Mustang or Camaro that daddy just bought them and smoke their @ss with my piece of $hit MX 6 Turbo. It's just a plain looking car with a few dent's, but when that Turbo kicks in it will fly. I realize that V8's are king, but it's amazing with what they can do with the 4 bangers today.

and that 350 block isn't enough for you? LOL. I was looking at putting one of the new ATI chargers on my 351 and take it off the street. What have you done to the MX6 to beat your Chevy?

The Damn Yankees as I refer to them are ones that come down South and bitch & moan constantly about how they do it up North.

What's your term for those who come up North and bitch and moan about how they do it down South?

When Jim Robinson mentioned that he didn't want any 40 year old conspiracy theories, I wish he would have added the 130+ year old controversies.
I regard all of this as a bunch of Anti-American rhetoric.

Not to much, just a K&N filter, accel coil & high performance wires & plugs. The car came with the Turbo, but it was in dire need of some TLC. In the Chevy I had the 350 rebuilt with a high performance Crane Cam & lifters, Edelbrock intake & carb & B&M shift kit the whole nine yards. But the truck is just so damn heavy it just can't hang with the MX 6.
