The U.S. Forest Service told one of its tenants that his 20-foot flagpole is unauthorized and has to go.

David Knickerbocker has flown the American flag on the pole next to his summer cabin in the El Dorado National Forest for nearly two decades. He leases a quarter-acre lot.

Thats what we need to organize. We need to make up some signs, and discuss where would be the most effective place to protest. Now, GW may not be involved at all in this lunatic rule to force an American to stop flying his flag on FEDERAL LAND!, but often, you have to go to the top to get anything done. Therefore, we may have to express to our president our absolute disgust with heavy handed, nutcase government coming out of one of his departments.

OF COURSE, this is todays nutty ruling. Tomorrow, we will be distracted by yet another power grab by Big Brother. So, it is very difficult to keep our focus because we are being hit on the left side of our face, then just before we respond, we are hit again, but on the right side, day after day, after day.

Where would be the best place to protest? Why not all over America in front of our governors offices? Or, maybe federal buildings would be the best place to carry a sign. I don't know, but lets discuss this and make up some signs that say something to the effect: CUT: Taxes, Rules, and Regulations Now!

Join in our get out of the way

I am going to assume you mean "or get out of the way"...

I see your views are so lightly held and with such weak foundations, that any true discussion would require a sophomoric response.

The perfect counter by any true fascist. You may want to consider that flag again and what it truly stands for. Fascism is the antithesis of everything American.

"No putting holes where Native Americans might have once lived."

Doesn't that cover just about every basement in the USA?

I don't know but the fact that many of our national lands are under the control of the vile United Nitwits may be the reason no US flag can be flown over them. I hate to say that, but I can think of nothing else that would restrict and AMERICAN from flying his flag except the evil UN.

Someone needs to site the rule that these jokers are pointing to under federal land use regulations.

I was very upset when the 9th circuit court passed the No Pledge rule, but this is the same feeling, just the second half!

OUR OWN GOVERNMENT THAT WE SUPPORT WITH OUR MONEY TELLS US WE CAN'T FLY OUR FLAG!!!! WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING TO AMERICA???????

Marching in the streets in protest is "Fascism" in your opinion?

Yes, join in, but, if not, don't try to hold back Americans from marching against heavy handed government. That would TRULY be against everything America stands for.

Protests are cute, but when it comes to actually getting anything done in the American legal system, it will require a court case.

Over the past 3+ years, there have been many violations of protected speech and right to free association by those normally associated with the left. Normal targets would be anything relating with Christianity, morality, the military, and the family.

The issue with flying a flag is absurd. It is an obvious expression of speech that should be wholly covered by the first amendment. The same goes for citing the Lord's name in a graduation speech.

"And what exactly is a "forest spokesman" anyway?"

A forest spokesman is a self-appointed guardian of the trees who can't speak for themselves. Remember those trees who weep when they fall in the forest, because no one can hear them. Well many enviro-wackos from the Sierra Club, Earth First, the screwball Oregon tree Guardians, etc. believe they can understand the trees and speak for them. I'll bet we all could if we smoked the right stuff. (sarcasm).

Yes, and this was two days after the agression that led us to the war on terriorism. I was horrified and verbally chastised those manning the tents at the fair. Then I called and talked to each of the men in charge (okay, so I don't know the correct term) at each of our local recruitment centers in town and gave them an earful. Then I called my congresswoman.

Well, I hope JimRob does not see your post. Those "cute" protests in the streets defeated Condit.

I have been told that the flags went up on the very last day of the fair, yes.

A single event or person is one thing. Nationwide is another. In order to effect policy nationwide, thereby avoiding issues like this in the future, requires clarification of exactly whether or not flying a flag would constitute a personal expression.

Local or national...what is the difference? Take your protest to the streets and it will be resolved quickly, I have observed.

Do you really think Gore gave up his futile effort to win his election by fraud because of lawyers....or by Freepers telling him over and over to "get out of Cheney's house"?

Democracy, whether Republic or not,is a rowdy undertaking and you must accept the fact.

"If you're putting holes in the ground where Native Americans once resided, that needs an archaeological review," Forest Service spokesman Frank Mosbacher said.

Frank, you're an idiot.
