This was a good clip. It's good to see this on TV; but, again, Kabbani's notable for his lonely and brave voice. Is he sunni, shiite, should know his nationality but don't.

"We are very successful in keeping that watchful eye against any kind of terrorist and terrorism and when we find something we try to expose them and try to show them that there is a threat here," he said.

Yadda, yadda, yadda.  Trying doesn't seem to be doing.

I have some respect for this man, this lone voice in the wilderness of Islam. It is way too little and way too late.

I wish I had heard more of this sooner. Seems to me that this is surfacing after a nationwide rejection of Moslems in general, who were largely complacent and silent after nine eleven.

They should have been outraged the same as the rest of us were.

If they really want to help, let them use their Moslemness to help us ferret out the bad guys here and around the world.

Is he sunni, shiite, should know his nationality but don't.

From his web site, he is clearly Sunni, but above all a Sufi. Kabbani is clearly the most prominent patriotic Muslim cleric in America. His organization may not be extremely large but is large enough for the blanket condemnations of Islam sometimes seen on FR to make me uncomfortable.

yeah, FReepers really shouldn't be casting their suspicions on this guy. It's not "too little, too late" in his case, as he's been speaking out since way before Sept. 11th. For some reason though, he hasn't ever gotten the press that the Ibrahim Hoopers and Hassan Ibishes have received.

Makes one wonder why...

Kabbani was on Michael Savage a few times he seems that he may be the only true "peaceful" muslim. The sad thing is most of the radical muslims hate this guy.

Maybe non-violent Muslims need to change their name. After all, we had to change ours.

Long ago, people who believed in liberty called themselves "liberals". (These words even have the same root!) After the term was hijacked by people who believed the opposite, we had to change our name - to "conservative".

The word "Muslim" has roughly 100% negative connotations. Anyone who stands up and announces he is a "Muslim" must live with the consequence that most listeners will assume he wants to kill us - just as anyone nowadays who stands up and calls himselve a "liberal" must live with the consequence to most listeners will assume he believes that Big Government has the solutions.

Perhaps those Muslims who oppose everything commonly associated with Islam should pick a new name. How about "Sufi"?

What is his website address?

Islamic Supreme Council of America

The content of this site and affiated sites such as Kamilat is pleasingly non-defensive. One unfornate thing is that there is no list of Council-affiliated mosques. I presume that this is because there are few and/or Kabbani is so hated that they don't want the link publicized.

Kabbani works as head of the Islamic Supreme Council of America

This is the top dude in America. Things are moving quickly. It is necessary for the organization to speak against the terrorists since individual Muslim cannot without violating the creed. Organizations can speak. This is how it is done, and it shouldn't have taken so long. Given the speed at which Islam moves, it looks like this momentum is going to last for a very long time. It will take a very long time, but the writing is on the wall.

You are completely correct. Actions speak louder than words. Have not seen any action on the part of Muslims in America to save America from Muslim terrorists. We reject them completely until they act against a force that wants to destroy my beloved America.

Re: "Kabbani wants to dispel the distorted image of Islam that has festered in the post-Sept. 11 America. He visited Ground Zero as proof that a more moderate voice of Islam is alive and well."

And thus begins the Osama-loving-sycophants attempt to, wrongfully, shift the onus back on to freedom loving americans.

I refuse to have my literary excursions dictated to me by an Osama-loving-sycophant or Arafat-apologist.
I refuse to have my spiritual undertakings dictated to me by an Osama-loving-sycophant or Arafat-apologist.
I refuse to have my world view dictated to me by an Osama-loving-sycophant or Arafat-apologist.
The ONLY solution Kabbani has is to get the next generation of hate filled Osama-lovers not to slaughter.

THIS generation of freedom loving americans have grown up with an entire genration of global islamic terrorism and knows the facts.

This guy has 2 choices:

1) Write a letter to his brother Osama and condem his actions.
2) Write a letter to his brother Osama and condem his actions.
