5) Admitted to God, to ourselves and to anybody who would listen the exact nature of our fellow FReepers wrongs.

6) Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character from the other FReepers.

I just did the same thing and it hardly effected me at all, at all, at all.. I was trapped in a closed auto for a week with the wife who more than made up for the time she claims I wasted every day reading every single post every day on FR. She talked non-stop for the whole week. I have vague recollection of having listened now and then, but here I am back at FR, rested and ready.

MR TOO! I've been gone for a week, and the laptop I took with me decided it had never heard of a browser before. ARRRRGGGHH!

7) While away from knowing eyes, and instead of picking up groceries right away, I walked into a Kinkos and spent $6 for a half hour of access.
I feel hopeless. About the only thing Ive found that helps is these meetings . . . and with that, Ill keep coming back.

You fool! You should have tried tapering off on something much less potent and addictinging...say lucianne.com

Hi Tictoc:
When I go on a trip I always make my reservations at a hotel/motel that has internet connections for the guests. If not I do not stay there. Try it, it works.
Have a good day, and the very best to you and yours.

Vanity: 1 week cold turkey from FreeRepublic
"Ah feel your pain"
I underwent the same test thanks to a metatarsal bone breaking in my foot
a couple of weeks ago. The broken bone will heal...but the pain of a week without FreeRepublic...
now that's true "pain and suffering"!

Be sure and get a long telephone cord for your modem to be able to reach into the bathroom.

I tried to cold turkey last week. It is tough! Now I'm back to lifting steaks out of the grocery freezer to raise money to feed this freeping monkey on my back.

Well I made it through the week but it was hard. My fingers kept wanting to type in www.freerepublic.com...
I'd like to thank all who responded with good-natured ribbing and helpful hints. Special thanks for the links to previous threads on the same topic.
Being self-employed, like some other posters on this thread, makes it difficult to curb the craving. I don't regret all the time I spent during the past months but bills need to be paid too!
I missed the virtual company of this online community of clear thinkers. But I used the extra time to go on longer walks with the dog and enjoyed the exercise.
I believe that one reason many come here and spend so much time reading and discussing is that we feel out of place among friends and acquaintances in the broader society. This is especially true when you live in a more or less socialist, appeasement-minded community, as I do here in Germany now and when I lived in Cambridge, MA.
The solution can only be for Freepers to pool their funds, build a spaceship and emigrate to a brave new world. Recent discoveries of water on Mars make the red planet the most attractive candidate.
