I remember reading books before I got online. I used to read at least 2-3 books a month, mostly non-fiction, about a number of topics. I got hooked up to the internet (after a long time of putting it off) on Sept. 10, 2001. And the world was a different place the next day.

I want to kick myself for not discovering FR until the next month, though.

When I go on a trip I always make my reservations at a hotel/motel that has internet connections for the guests. If not I do not stay there. Try it, it works.

the first thing you do upon discovering it is down is go to the FR yahoo group to see if it is, in fact, down. Then you breath a sigh of relief to see a message posted from John explaining why it is down and what the ETA is.
LOL I have actually never gotten to this step because I am thrown into an unrecoverable panic and can't function. You mean to tell me I can get a second opinion on whether or not FR is really down? COOL! :)

I just got back from a week of vacation, and I'm as fresh as a daisy. 8^) Within 15 minutes of our arrival to the hotel, my 15 yr. old son had sniffed-out an internet connection. They had a large office set-up in the lobby. 3 computers with free internet connection and a couple of lines more to plug-in, for those who had their own laptops, like the one my son takes everywhere he goes. All accessable 24/7. Didn't miss much at all.

We're going to be staying at a campground, but I just found out that not only do they have internet access at the office, BUT we can activate the phone line at our site. I don't know if my hubby will pop for the site activation because we're only staying for a few weeks and not the season, but I'll be able to drag my laptop to the office once a day to check on my e-mail and freep a teeny little bit. ALL IS SAVED! I can freep while on vacation!
