I was hoping that someone would remember....
My favorite quote, from that night?
CAPCON - " Roger, we copy you on the Ground.
We've got a bunch of guys about to turn blue - we're breathin' again......Thanks a lot !! "
..that coming after Armstrong 'took over' from the Landing computer and moved the LEM to a more level location. If memory serves - he only had about 15 -to- 30 seconds of fuel remaining when it touched down.
Thanks, again, for the memories!!
;^)
Thanks for posting this. It is inspiring. It's nice to see that the Times could once write an article without slandering the Right, too.
(plus it was just flat a cool thing to do.)
Bump!
That was one of the most dramatic moments of my lifetime. After they were on the lunar surface, I went outside and looked at the moon ...... and just stood there in total awe to think that there were people walking around up there! It was a truly amazing event!
"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
And in the 33 years since... a whole third of a century... the EnvironMental Vowel Movement has been deleriously trying to spin it the other way!!!
That picture of "the good earth," rising over the horizon of the dead moon has served the "symbolism over substance" merchants of mysticism and ludditeism very well!!!
Some outspoken preachers said at the time that we should not go there... now GANG-GREEN has finally shown us why!!!
I remember Rusty somebody, (was it Schwikert?) saying, "It's the triumph of the squares." Well ever since, it's been the triumph of the nerds and the socialist to equalize the U.S.A. with the lowest of the turd whirled cuntries!!!
Personally, I was a lot happier with my country, 33 years ago! I'm just so sorry somebody martyred Kennedy so liberals, supported by the media have had so much un-ending sway with so little truth!
