Limbaugh Urges Traficant: Blow the Lid Off Dem Scandals
NewsMax.com ^ | 7/19/02 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

America's number one talk radio host Rush Limbaugh urged Rep. James Traficant, D-Ohio, on Friday to deliver a "farewell expose" on his fellow Democrats before they vote to expel him from the House on corruption charges next week.

"Congressman, I know you're out there," Limbaugh told his audience. "I would love to hear you deliver a farewell expose, if you will, on the floor of the House, blowing the whistle on all the Democrats who stood behind Clinton and Condit but aren't standing behind you."

The conservative talker said Traficant's bribery conviction paled next to the crimes of the Clinton administration.

"We have a president who was convicted of perjury, lying before a federal judge," he complained. "We had a guy who was perhaps giving nuclear secrets to the Chinese, breaking all kinds of campaign finance laws."

Back then, Limbaugh reminded, senators said they acquitted Clinton because removing him from office would have been "overturning the will of the people." Democrat leaders Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt made much the same argument for their decision not to force Rep. Gary Condit, D-Calif., to resign last year over the Chandra Levy cover-up.

Under House rules, Traficant will have 30 minutes to address his colleagues before any expulsion vote.

"He's promised one hell of a show on the floor of the House," said Limbaugh. "And what he's done so far probably is nothing compared to what he's going to do."

Two years ago, Traficant accused former Attorney General Janet Reno of treason, telling Fox News Channel that the Clintons chose her for the job because she has a sordid past that made her easy to blackmail.

Unfortunately, Traficant has mostly destroyed his own credibility..

And I think he's got some dirty laundry of his own to worry about.

(could be tied to the mob and involved in murder.)

If he did stand up on the floor of the House, and blow the lid off, I would be tempted to buy him a coon skin cap....

The networks will report it.... "Today Jim Traficant WHO USUALLY VOTES WITH CONSERVATIVES addressed the whole house prior to his expulsion. Whle he addressed several issues, he did not discuss the double dealing stock manipulating profit stealing situation that President Bush and Vice President Chenny are trying to cover up. He also failed to address Bushes total disreguard for human life as demonstrated by his drunk driving that he tried to keep from the public. Mr. Trafficant could have addressed the total lack remorse Mr. Bush has shown for all of the black people who have been dragged to death behind pickups driven by white people who are probably conservative."

I agree. And whatever he may "have" will sound like the ravings of a lunatic. Maybe he'll say something about backdoor deals during impeachment or something.

The thing is, I think he believes he can win reelection. He may be working toward that goal and isn't willing to burn too many bridges.

If the House votes to expel him, and if he wins relection, the House will immediately expel him again. He's toast.

Can you imagine a House of Representatives condoning the fact that a MEMBER is operating from a federal prison? Won't happen.

He might have 30 minutes under the house rules, but is there any rule that says the speech must be broadcast? Is there also a rule as to whether the speech becomes part of the congressional record? Is there a rule that says other members must attend, or is there a chance Jim will be speaking to an empty floor? Wouldn't that be something if daschle could keep every democrat out of the house for just that one day.

Perhaps you need to get more educated.

1. C-SPAN is required, by agreement with the House, to broadcast every minute of House activity.

2. Anything said on the floor of the House becomes part of the Congressional Record.

3. House members can attend or not attend. It's their choice.

4. Daschle runs the Senate. The House is controlled by the Republicans.

I do not think that back room deals are in the making. This representive has made such an a$$ out of himself on national TV that no one would believe what he has to say. He has convinced the people of America, with the help of our national tv networks, that he is wearing a tin foil hat. That everyone is out to get him, he babbles and babbles. Sorry Rush, this time you are wrong. He has made himself out to be an Idiot. Maybe he was to begin with. Either way, a few years in Leavenworth, playing golf, working out, having gormet dinners, having sex with the partner of your choice, being able to take off that discusting hair piece. "Do not hurt those animals that live there or PITA will be after you too" It sorta sounds like a life he might want. No one makes a deal with a perceived or actual Idiot. Hooah!!

We better call his office (if he still has one...lol). It is time for the Dems to get scandalized and if he has the goods, for crying out loud, let it loose.

How about THESE immortal words:

"We must be stupid. Ronald Reagan almost destroyed Communism, and the Clinton administration has reinvented it, is now subsidizing it, and is now stabilizing it."--
Rep. James Traficant, D-Ohio, statement to the House

For what it's worth, I hope he does it. He may be a rogue, but his style on the floor was usually very amusing. I'll probably get flamed for this, but I got a kick out of him.

Should Traficant have his own radio show?

This is Traficant. He'll write a "tell all" book if he gets canned.

I'll make an .MPEG and DivX .AVI video of this at some point if CSPAN replays it. Will post at a download location for anyone interested in preserving it for posterity.

All in all, Traficant is probably the most straight, clean & honest DEMOCRAT in the House.

After Traficant dared to help the Ed Nishnic to defend his father in law John Demjanjuk I knew that sooner or later he will be targeted.

Probably not.

But keep in mind--Boston's Mayor James Michael Curley served four terms as mayor--plus four terms in Congress, one term as Massachusetts governor and two terms in jail.

Traficant loses me on two points: he turned out to be an F.O.B., voting in December 1998 not to impeach "the president" even though he "exposed" his attorney general. Secondly, he is an abortion rights advocate. Besides the moral concern, he seems oblivious that abortion is in part a factor in Ohio's steady population erosion of the past thirty years.
