President Bush and First Lady Laura welcome Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and his wife, Jolanta, to only the second State visit since Bush was sworn in. Bush and his colleague also answered a round of questions from reporters, including more questions to the President regarding his tenure at Harkin oil. The President and his guests attended the State dinner this evening. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

That makes a few of us that don't like the bow. Otherwise, the gown is lovely.I'm with you. What's with her and the bows, ruffles, tucks and pleats? She's such a lovely lady but I do wish she would leave the child type thingies out of her wardrobe.

Class! Pure class! Our president and first lady make us so proud. I also am beginning to hate the idiot liberal media with a passion.

What is C-SPAN? I think it is now called C-SPIN. or Clinton Spin. That's the way it seems lately. They hardly ever show THIS wonderful President. I'm sick of the media. Did I mention that?? LOLWhy don't all of you write to C-Span and complain. I have several times but think I need some help. I told them I wanted to remind them who the President was now and it wasn't bill clinton, Terry McAuliffe, Gephardt or Daschle. Told them also, what our President has to say every day is far more important than the dem speeches, especially clinton.
I'm tired of seeing a clinton speech shown over and over, along with McAuliffe and the other Dems while they show President Bush only once, if at all. Most times, they don't carry any of his speeches. We MUST stay after them.

Wow! These are four very attractive people!!! Poland must be just as proud of their first couple as the US is of our first couple. Thanks rintense. Great pictures!

such a lucky man

Mtngrl and ALL: Laura & W greeted guests in a
receiving line in the BLUE ROOM, and in person
Laura's eyes are a stunning TUROUOISE BLUE--the
exact color of her BLUE SASH. I liked the blue
sash/w/bow idea for these reasons, but it seems
many didn't like the look on television(I did!).
To: Mo1
I just posted two reasons for the sash
Mo1, what do you think(of the reasons,
I know you dislike the sash)?
To: SwatTeam
SwatTeam, no, the sash & bow were part
of her Oscar de la Renta ensemble, not
an ad-on somebody gave her. And I just
posted two reasons why she wore it. If
I & my mother are the only ones in the
USA who liked it, so be it, so what!?
To: Miss Marple
Miss Marple, I treasure xour comments.
There ARE reasons for what Laura wore
& I just finished posting them. And I
support her choice, even if no one
else does(well my mother did!). Here
is A FINAL POINT about it: Did any of
you notice that her gown was NOT an
actual dress BUT a two-piece thing??
A distinct TOP over a SKIRT? Seemed
to call for an accented waist, and I
say she chose the contrasting blue
for why I suggested(eye color & Blue
Room receiving line, see recent post).
SO YA'LL(the Texan in me) hated it on
TV; I didn't, but I'm betting ya'll
would've understood it more in person!

For the first time in my life I cringe when I hear the rain coming. Hi, I lost the computer to my daughter last night so am late catching up with The Dose. Yes, I am sick, sick, sick of rain. I know this is blasphemy in Texas in July. Tuesday my brother from San Diego was here visiting along with my brother and nephews from the Dallas area. They went out with my husband to play golf and came back looking like drowned rats. Being typical men they didn't let little things like water over the tee box or lightning get in the way of their fun. Today the sun is actually shining so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
To: txrangerette
Well I agree with you The First Lady does have stunning blue eyes and the dress she wore is beautiful .. but as for the bow .. sorry I think it still has to go ..

Well, CyberAnt, Laura chose the blue
sash & put it on herself. So Laura
"needs to have her head examined". I
am serious. On C-Span they showed her
talking earlier on, standing in the
State Dining Room, about the menu &
the decor & her gown. Laura told the
media that she noticed the outfit on
a visit one time to de la Renta in NY,
liked it, and requested it for the SD!
Laura needs a CT SCAN(head of course).
To: GretchenEE
Gretchen, sorry you were so shocked.
Can you read my several late posts?
And I heard Laura say she previously
saw that ensemble in Oscar's stuff &
decided on it for the SD. Also the
guest female commentator on C-Span
did say her tiny waist was accented
on purpose. I know everyone on here
hated it. I didn't. I said in prior
posts why she chose that color too.
Might've been less wild in person.
To: Mo1
LOL Mo1, I already KNEW you hated it.
You were searching for REASONS, right?
Don't forget, she greeted guests in
the Blue Room, the outfit was a top
over a skirt & had blue threads in it.
AND Laura liked it--fashion schlump as
she is. LLOL! Just giving REASONS.....
To: txrangerette
LOL ... Yes I can see you have been giving reason .. and maybe you are right .. I did not see the C-span show
All I know is what I see in those pictures and well it's gotta go .. LOL

I did read your late-post remarks. Here's mine from # 193, to admiralsn.
"Here's the test of whether or not an ensemble works. If the garment detracts from the wearer's face, something needs correcting. The clothing should draw other people's eyes to the wearer's countenance, after which the garment will have plenty of time to be seen."
To: GretchenEE
OK it's not real good but .. with or with .. we report .. you decide
