It looks like they ran it up the flagpole to see who would salute, and instead thought they spotted an enraged citizenry with pitchforks and torches.

I wouldn't go there anyway, they might have some snoop program or whatnot. Who can trust people that would have us spying on each other?

Try www.citizencorps.gov (drop the middle "s" -- there's a typo in the article)

"The Department of Justice is discussing participation with several industry groups whose workers are ideally suited to help in the anti-terrorism effort because their routines allow them to recognize unusual events and have expressed a desire for a mechanism to report these events to authorities," said the site.

Can you explain why this would be unconstitutional on both a State and Federal level?

I know FEDGOV has no right to do this, but the states? What gives?

I sure wish I could agree with your conclusion but from what I've seen/heard the gubment floated this odious trial balloon and not only the sheeple but lots of the folks on FR thought it was it was the prettiest balloon since the 5th Dimension.

Have I missed some threads where this outrage was evident?

Glad to report the answer is 'yes', amigo. Yet another FR political mood swing is underway. The Freeper remnants who cheer anything this president does are becoming hysterically shrill. Whether Mr Bush is aware of the dismay amongst so many who worked for his election is anyone's guess. Surely he doesn't want to see his term fizzle, in terms of accomplishment, the way his father's did? Fingers crossed.
