The last I heard, it was not possible to transmit information FTL, but we shall see.

One photon is taken on a spaceship to alpha centauri. By manipulating the photon on earth, the one on the spaceship reacts. One type of reaction could be a DOT, the other a DASH. Presto, morse code, or even bits and bytes.

When the first spaceship pilot measures his (entangled) photon, he will cause the other to resolve itself (once). No usable information will have been sent. Each will know what the other has, as if they had each carried one piece of a comlementary pair all along.

Ok, here's a question:

If it is possible to transmit information faster than the speed of light, won't this still be unpractical for a very long time, because someone would have to first set up a device many light years away in order to receive the information being transmitted?

Yes, but a moot point, since no known way to transmit usable FTL information. And actually, we have the exact same difficulty with speed-of-light transmission!

Measurements showed that the emitted photons were still entangled.

And damned unhappy about it.

Not exactly. Standford university performed a study on remote viewing (funded by the CIA) that had quite a bit of success. For what its worth, it was dicussed on nightline with ex-CIA director Stansfield Turner.

I think ESP is real.

Of course it is- in some form at least. I bet this has happened to a lot of people, a song pops in your head just out of the blue- you turn on the radio- there it is. I had a witness to this once (my wife) we were driving along in Scotland not playing the radio. I had a song pop into my head and started singing it. Not from the beginning, just right in the middle. On sudden inspiration, I reached over and switched on the radio- same song, same place in the song. My wife was like "No! I can't believe that!" I'd say that's happened to me at least a dozen times that I can remember in my life and I know other people say the same thing.

I don't think it's anything special or even really useful- it seems to be a passive effect- but what would the explanation for that be if not some low grade esp? I have my own theory on it but I know other people here must've experienced that and I'd like to have that explained in a rational way. It's truly puzzling.

I think I recall that Einstein wasn't happy at all with these sorts of implications and rejected the whole thing. I might be wrong about that but...

LOL If it tells you anything, I have reached the age where I don't stop eating because I am full, I just get tired of chewing.

Some can and do understand it now.

Over my lifetime, I have correctly predicted dice throws half a dozen times, with no failures ever. Never while gambling but nonetheless. I know what you mean. It just comes on you.

I'm not sure about dice- I mean there's a statistical chance of getting it right. If you guess seven you'll get it right more often than guessing other numbers. But a song? How many songs are out there? I notice those sorts of things after being married a long time- me and my wife share the same thoughts at the same time, but I'll put that down to just thinking alike after so long. I've never had anyone give me a plausible explanation for the bit with the songs though. The really odd part about it is- I turned on the radio and it was the correct station as well. Seems like a rich coincidence. Same song, same place in the song, correct radio station. That's never happened to you? It seems like practically everybody I ever mentioned it to reported similar occurances.

Every time I felt I knew what was coming up, it did.  I predicted
boxcars twice in a row while someone else was throwing the dice.
 It was ... exhilarating.

I seem to have the ability to predict the sex of an unborn child without error. I don't have to be around the mother either. The last time I did that, I was in their home a lot. They tested me with a second pregnancy. I knew she was pregnant before being told, guessed the sex of the baby and the loss of a twin. All without being told or given clues. I also predicted the loss of my cousins child.

For what it is worth, I don't believe it is ESP. Feeling the life? Yes. Like sensing that someone is in the room with you. Sensitivity to space/time is possible. Some people can hear the low frequencies that subs use.
