"My impression is that Benoit's friends who were not arrested are threatening Scott in an effort to protect him. Attempting to intimidate the witness - ."

Yep. Maybe a gang of bullies...I meant that I wouldn't take the bet because he probably HAS had other run-ins with the law. I'm getting tired, so I probably wrote it wrong.

re post 111: In your heart do you believe God doesn't care about the animals

Cares FOR, definitely. After all, they are our food.

Cares about? Yes, in that they are part of his creation.

To be honest though, I cannot presume to know the mind of God in all of this. I think the guys that did this have a problem, like when I shot a robin in the 5th grade. I felt horrible afterward exactly because it was senseless.

But I think you are reading too much into this verse. It is merely stating that God supplies all that his creation needs. It is stating nothing more than that.

Again it is to let us know that he will supply our needs and comfort us.

My main concern on this thread is that too many people want to put this thing at the level of doing the same thing to a human. This doesn't increase the value of the kittens life. Rather it de-values human life.

First step animal abuse, next step child abuse. Put him away for the max, I say.

"Shoot, did anyone on this thread spend any time on a ranch or farm? Is this all just city folk here? Animals are most definitely NOT people and should never come close to LEGALLY rising to that level!"

Just so you know you're not alone, I grew up on the farm. You express my sentiments exactly. Most of us are afraid to speak to such emotionally charged city folk about their pets. Good luck.

You only want us to say "Well, he didn't hurt a human, so let him out of jail. As long as he sticks to torturing animals and doesn't move to humans, it's ok. Don't deny it.

You write like someone with a seperate agenda or someone who is as disturbed as the sadistic perp.

Nowhere does it say that he owned the kitten.

You're right, of course. And it was an assumption on my part since it's not being his would be a major fact! And, if it wasn't his, my position changes quite a bit!

Regarding your whole post 135. I think you are missunderstanding me or I am not making myself very clear. There is nothing objective in your post that I do not agree with. In fact I agree quite strongly!

So are you saying that you see nothing wrong with torturing animals to death, and that it should be perfectly legal?

No, I am saying that like a lot of things in life, it is wrong, but it is none of the governments business. The constitution and ALL of our founding fathers documents talk about the rights of MEN. Show me one word that deals with the LEGAL RIGHTS of animals. If the cat was not his, he has DAMAGED someone elses PROPERTY and that DOES fall under the governments jurisdiction!

It's quite black and white in my mind.

You know how Rob feels? As long as the perp is only torturing the neighbors' pets and not the neighbors, leave him alone?

I spent mot of my childhood on a farm - half a year each year until we moved up here and took up farming on our own. When I married, I married a dairy farmer. I have never tortured an animal in my life, I never came to believe animals have no feelings or memories because simple, empiracle evidence proves this untrue to anyone who REALLY grow up on a farm...which I seriously doubt either of you did.

Neither of you are right in the head.

No Rob, it goes way beyond that. Humans at least have the physical ability to somehow defend themselves against such assualt, as futile as it may be. Cats, dogs, kittens, etc. do not have that ability and are thus at the mercy of us humans. To not have remorse over the indiscriminate torture of such a helpless creature is a sad commentary of you as a member of the human race.

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." - John Adams

If the grilling and torture of a kitten is 'moral' then I suppose your point of view is valid...if not moral...then anyone can reach the obvious counclusion about your opinion on this matter.

Not to mention declaring no empathetic feeling whatsoever to the PAIN that kitten felt, being slow roasted alive in a charcoal grill is a sad commentary of Rob as a human. What a relief that Rob SAYS he feels empathy toward humans...though personally, I find that hard to believe.

Most likely the perp is being anally raped right now.

If he's convicted and incarcerated, he'll get raped some more and likely be killed.

Good.

Living animals feel pain. Big difference from being "walking meat."

And animal torture is way different than slaughtering cows for food.

the law should definitely discourage such a thing.

Why?

Because it's wrong. Combined with the fact that animals are living beings, and not inanimate objects picked up off the streets. Is this really such a hard friggin' concept for you to grasp? Christ, I just don't understand the black-n-white thinking of some on this forum

Make them all work at shelters for an extended period of time.
