Sounds like a lot of the women who live in my town. I dislike her because she's a phony(her perfect enunciation drives me nuts) and if she's a FOB and Hildebeast fan, "nuf" said.

Or at the country club in Maryland my parents belonged to... I don't think they realize how silly they come across. Mrs. Attebury is funnier anyway:

You are too much. What a good and enjoyable writer you are too!

I'm just thinking Martha for a girl is a pretty darn good wage earner!

I sort of wish Howard Stern would foul her with his Demon Seed.

Martha gave us so much mirth that I can't see why she should be so hated now, to tell the truth.

I can't stand her politics and I wouldn't want to work for her, but hey, how many laughs have we gotten. Anybody remember the "10 Signs Martha Stewart is Stalking You" joke? One: You find a lemon slice floating in your dog's water dish. LOL!

On the positive side, I will say that the kitchen line she brought into K-Mart was wonderful. I've gotten great chef's knives (forged in China, but obviously to exacting standards) there that I could never have afforded in a restaurant store, for example.

Frankly, I take an opposing view: I think there are many people who hate Martha Stewart because she said that being tasteful, sophisticated, etc., was within the reach of anybody who wanted to give it some thought. It wasn't just for the privileged few.

Don't forget, she was the child of a very humble Polish American family in New Jersey. She clawed herself up to where she is. Like it or not, it's usually only ruthless, obnoxious (and talented) people like her who make it big, regardless of whether they're male or female.

Marthat got greedy, as people like that often do. Clearly, with all the bucks she has, she didn't need to do a dubious trade. Still, she made her real money by actually doing something productive, and every time I use some of my neat K-Mart kitchen stuff, I remember this!

You're probably right. But don't forget the envy factor and disgruntled employee syndrome. People who work for driven types get fired when their work is not up to exacting standards, then leave and write books and articles. When I lived in San Francisco, Danielle Steel was a favorite target. So many articles by bitchy former employees said she was impossible to work for, but several employees who worked for her for years said she was the kindest, most generous person in the world to work for.

Enjoy your knives!

Most people dont realize that she is over 60! She looks far younger than her age. And admit it men, you hope your wife holds up that well.

She looks so well-preserved from all the plastic surgery she's had.

Too funny. I wonder what is the point with the grass?

I collect cookbooks, including some of Martha's, and none of her recipes have ever worked out, they always need to be tweaked, so I don't use them for recipes, just for ideas.
My favorite cookbooks are by Cook's Illustrated. Their recipes really are always perfect.

That is just too damn funny!

Many years ago SNL had a fake commercial of a supermom with a fatal case of Martha syndrom. She was a nuclear chemist, member of the bar who did pro bono work, president of the PTA, volunteered at the rest home, lead a girl scout troop, made all her families clothing, cooked gormet meals from scratch, etc. How does she do it? She takes speed! In the end she was a typical babbling tweaker! ROTFL funny!
