This isn't "damaging", Rummy, it's TREASON!

If you can't find the fifth column under your nose in our own defense department, don't tell us about trying to find Bin Laden.

Give all employees handling classified documents their choice of a lie detector test, truth serum or the Iron Maiden.

Tomorrow!

Leni

those who know don't talk.

Not ever? I agree that it's unlikely, but it must have happened more than once in history.

Asked which law the State Department reporter broke, Fleischer replied that the law came into play when the reporter said he had a classified cable in his hand. "It's a classified document," Fleischer said. "The law is the law and the law should be enforced. And that's consistent with the free press."

Uh....What??

How about treason/espionage charges against workers who leak info?

So where do they get the info?

Who gave it to them?

Reckon this is more of the trial balloons?

"I have spoken publicly and privately countless times about the dangers of leaking classified information," the secretary wrote. "It is wrong. It is against the law. It costs the lives of Americans. It diminishes our country's chances for success."

Then why are they not prosecuted?

If I were in charge of security for this operation I'd do the following:

1. Have my most senior and TRUSTED military planner develop a ficticious plan, one certain NOT to be undertaken and send it down the ranks.......7 or 8 different versions.....just slightly different that is. This plan would be developed and promulgated before any discussion of any real plan took place.

2. Look to see which details of the same plan emerge in the press and FOREIGN government communications.

3. Arrest and "remove" the sources of the leaks.

4. Begin development of the REAL plan.

I think we're only at stage 2:)

That technique was described in Tom Clancy's book Patriot Games. He called it the "canary trap", as in, finding out who is singing like a canary.
