I believe you are correct and thankfully so. The lib press will decry the dehumanization of the way we fight wars now because they won't be able to turn the sheeple against the effort in the say way they did in VN. Having been in the AF (peace time desk weenie) and with a son preparing for a career as an AF pilot, I'm delighted to have our guys out of harm's way. The idea is to fight a war on your terms--press be damned. And a word about those combat air controllers--BALLS. Great big, massive, brass whoppers. Nothing but the utmost respect for those guys who are out in front of the front line. Still waiting to hear about the MOH recommendation for the controller in Afghan.

Bombs guided by SOF do appear to be the way we go now. But, all that fancy hardware is useless without the highly trained soldiers needed to operate it. We cannot turn out the highest quality SOF soldiers overnight. It takes years to train a SEAL and we lost some in Afghanistan - these men are priceless military assets that have to be employed sensibly and carefully. We cannot do another Iwo Jima now.

"Someday I hope I get the honor of spitting on his grave."

I wouldn't waste the spit, however when that day comes, I'll be sure to drink a lot of beer before my graveside visit........

Kinda like this: "Hey Betty-Sue, hold mah beer and watch this! Sound of running water

Sorry folks, some of the Georgia in me just bubbled to the surface...

The real question: how many Daisy Cutters are being built for Saddam?

Daisy cutters are OK but nukes are more efficient, economical, and can used with no loss of US personnel.

I think some caption should go along with the pic's:

The Stealth is dropping 46 mk82 slicks (low-drag) 500 lbs bombs, = 23,000 lbs.
And the B1 is dropping 38 BSU49 (Balloon Support Unit) fin'd mk82 high-drag bombs; so the A/C can get away from the explosion during a low-level bombing run.

You posted, "Someday I hope I get the honor of spitting on his grave.

You only want to spit on his grave?

Thanks, and I have bookmarked this article for the whiners who can't understand why we are not attacking Iraq/Iran 3 months ago.

At the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Mo., production is at its highest rate in 15 years - higher than during the Gulf War. The plant recently got a $92 million contract to make 265 million rounds of small-caliber ammunition for the Army.

Ordnance is their business and business is good.

Iran and China/North Korea.

We need a national debate forum discussing the true depths of the Clintons/Gore depletion of our nation defense and the extent of their selling lethal technologies to the Chinese who have repackaged and sold same to their clients. Our ships sail in harm's way.

We have been mobilizing, but have not had the stores for a real war. Time is a luxury.

How about 9/11/2002 as the attack date.

I can see President Bush talking to Americans the morning of 9/11/2002 here. At the same minute of the first Islamakazi plane crashing into the first WTC building one year ago, the tv screen flashes over to night time in Iran, Iraq and Syria. Their capital cities and military bases are bathed in the light of their total destruction by flames and explosions.

President Bush signs off with "You are either with us or against us! You can choose Life or Death!" These three terrorists states chose death!

Do you think that might get their attention?

I also did not see mention of the Daisy-Cutter. I recall that being one of the real special treats for the "Elite Republican Guard" troops. A real favorite. They are cheap ($27,0000), and at 15,000 lbs, a whole lot of bang for the buck. Not real precise, but hell, we're talking about Iraq here.

Daisy-Cutter (BLU-82, to be specific) is yesterday's big bomb. Chances are we'll have a few 30,000lb-class weapons with the JDAM kit for precision drops when "Desert Storm II" kicks off

This war will boost the economy, and make the arms manufacturers even richer. At times, that is one of the leading causes of war.

Spitting? My hope is to pour a couple of beers on his final resting place. After they pass through my kidneys, of course!
