Unfortunately, the General Accounting Office, Congress' investigative arm, has not been able to sign off on any of the five annual documents so far, contending that the bookkeeping is still too shoddy to get an auditor's seal of approval.

A timely report right in line with the Dem. attack on the Pubbies: And acknowledging the Pentagon is worst. But ignores the obvious:

$1.1 TRILLION DOLLARS MISSING AT DEFENSE DEPARTMENT - Rumsfeld Inherits Financial Mess

It is a liberal media after all. Where were they before? They had the chance to follow-up on
$3,400,000,000,000 (Trillion) of Taxpayers' Money Is Missing
when reported in 1999, but NO ... not 'till now.

I don't see how the Congress can look these CEO's in the eye and frown on their bookkeeping without a deep sense of shame.

The system works, the CEO's were caught, other corporations will take heed, and it should be the end of the story. But not to the demoncrats, they have to drag Bush into it on two false fronts.

Thanks for posting this.

GAO Comptroller General David Walter said this discrepancy does not mean the money was stolen, just that the antiquated accounting systems in use at many government agencies lost track of it.

A little history on David Walker. He is a left wing Rino appointed to be the GAO Comptroller by, big drumroll: The Bent One.

David Walker got his audit behavior training from being a key Partner with Arthur Andersen.

It is safe to say that David Walker has been in the process of Arthur Andersening every audit in the government. He has successfully Arthur Andersened our government books.
