the point of the book was not centered on the Tanners...

I know that, I was actually addressing questions from Bella.

And that book was written with people with an axe to grind--they wanted a pot-boiler to sell the sensationalism.

It's "interesting" if you paint the Church as some big, mysterious entity. This is happening with the Roman Catholic church right now.

The stuff about "covering up evidence" was just B.S. Both Mormon and non-Mormon researchers have access to Church historical documents. And the Salmander Letter was even printed in the newspaper in full. I know, I remember the stir it caused.

Before you get too excited, you might want to know where the DNA was found, whose it is, and if there is any connection to Ricci. Ya, I know - just minor details to someone like you.

My daughter has a Yorkie-Poo (Poodle Yorkshire Mix). That dog will growl and bark if you walk up to her door, much less open the door. After she is done being the protector she will play with anybody; but when she has guard duty she take it very seriously. My wife has a Yorkie Chijuaua mix. She is also pretty vigilant. They are good early warning systems. It gives me time to position myself where I have access to a firearm until I can figure what set off the doggy alarms.

"Overwhelming" evidence against Westerfield? What trial have YOU been watching, if any?

All the State has shown is that Westerfield lived near the Van Dams, knew them to an undetermined extent, was a man not currently married, age 50, wanting to act more like 25 by hanging around bars and getting it on with women younger than he.

The kiddie porn charge would never hold up on its own, is just a misdemeanor, this is not what the statutes on KP envisioned, and those statutes are themselves of very doubtful constitutionality. As used here, it is no more than a way of tarring his name, trying to show that DW is a baddie, when in fact he is a saint compared to the VD's to say nothing of their guests!

Whatever happened to INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty? They can't prove motive, can't prove the crimes charged were even committed by anyone much less by DW, cannot show how he can have entered the VD home, cannot prove he was ever in there, failed to show anything other than one fleaspot of evidence either Brenda or Danielle was ever in his MH, even though it was admitted they had been--innocently.

If DW is found guilty, then I sure hope no girl is kidnapped within a block or so of me, or I am headed for the electric chair. Though totally innocent of course.

IFFFF it is unmatched DNA and if it is actually from the kidnapper, then it is probably not from a family member unless it was from an in-law that is not a blood relative, who has also not given a sample. Correct?

How long have they been collecting DNA samples from felons in Utah? Is it safe to say that this sample does not match any of Ricci's ex-con buddies either? Plus, it does not match Edmund's DNA.

Who else has not given DNA samples who is also involved in this story somehow? I can only come up with the milkman and Thurber. Anybody else?

Another group that might have gone through the house that was for sale, is real estate agents and potential buyers. This group would have gone through every room in the house. How long was the house on the market? How many times was it shown?

Yes..

True.

Maybe they haven't released their findings as yet, but might be looking for more incriminating evidence. Also, remember the funeral..Many family/friends, did they come to the house?

Exactly..http://www.utahrealestate.com/270440

check out the pix of their house--trees bare, snow- went on market in winter...Also, isn't the white suv the jeep pulling into the driveway?? And, the listing doesn't give the date it went on the market & has remained at the same selling price & is MLS which can bring in many people interested in this home..

Add in non-felon workers who worked on the house, or did they only hire felons :)

So, there are workers, agents, buyers, family, friends, and neighbors.

Now, unless that DNA is with other evidence or at a certain location in the home that links it directly to the kidnapping, then there are about 50-100 people that could be a match. Good luck getting samples from all of those people.

My 3 year old was missing for 40 minutes on Saturday. 30 minutes of active searching is a long long time. Especially after everything I have read on these threads.

We were talking in the garage while he was playing in the driveway and front yard. We thought he had taken off down the street on a plastic tricycle, when we noticed the tricycle was also gone. It was over 100 degrees out so nobody was outside and nobody had seen him.

There was about ten of us searching and I flagged down a cop who was driving by our neighborhood. I couldn't remember my own phone number or what my child looked like, LOL. Then our next door neighbor comes out of his house carrying our son. We had asked them three times if he was there and they were just about to join the search when they realized he was in their basement with their 3 year old. The neighbors were really embarrassed and we were just glad there was nothing wrong with our son.

I was so focused on the trike. Find the trike and find our son. Turns out another neighbor had come home for a short time and put the trike, which was theirs, in their garage and left again. I thought that they had been gone all day and my son was riding the trike a half hour before we lost him.

I was also glad the cop took the situation seriously and it only took 5 minutes of his time. I know this is a regular thing for them, especially recently.

The nieghbors that had him had lost their own kid a year ago and it turned out that he was asleep in his bed against the wall with the blanket completely covering him. It took them about 2 hours to find him.
