Feds Nab Seven In Wisconsin With illegal Visas From Qatar Embassy (3 knew 9/11 hijackers)
WKOW-TV Madison/ AP ^ | July 12, 2002

MILWAUKEE (AP) Federal authorities have found seven people in Wisconsin suspected of bribing U.S. embassy officials in the Persian Gulf to obtain illegal visas. Six of the seven don't appear to have terrorist ties, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis D. Schmitz.

He said little is known about the seventh person, Ahmad Abed Atia, 23, who had been living in Milwaukee. Atia was uncooperative with investigators and has been transferred to Chicago on a federal visa fraud charge, Schmitz said.

The seven are part of a larger group of foreigners from Jordan, Pakistan, Syria and Bangladesh suspected to have paid at least $10,000 each to an employee at the U.S. Embassy in Qatar between April 2000 and July 2001. Authorities said in exchange they received six-month visas without security screening or U.S. government authorization.

Three of the group are believed to have lived with the Sept. 11 hijackers.

Two of the seven people found in Wisconsin have family ties to the state.

Sammah Essa Batayneh, 23, had been living in Racine and working at her husband's grocery store. She was released on her own recognizance pending further court hearings in Chicago.

Yasser Abdelghani, 33, was working at a gas station in Kenosha. He was released from federal custody and turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.

He could be deported.

His wife and children, ages 4 and 6, also had illegal visas but were not taken into custody, Schmitz said.

The INS picked up another of the seven, a 31-year-old man, in Milwaukee. His name was not released.

He has not been charged, but his case remains under investigation, Schmitz said.

"Those released by the court were found not to be dangerous to society," Schmitz said.

Immigration fraud isn't uncommon, but authorities gave the Qatar bribes special attention after one of the group admitted he had lived in Virginia with two men, Hani Hanjour and Nawaf Alhazmi, who were suspected of hijacking the plane that crashed into the Pentagon.

Two other men suspected of paying for visas at the Qatar embassy also roomed with the hijackers. One of them, Ahmed Ahmad, was in custody, law enforcement officials said.

They did not release the name of the third man, saying he remained at large.

No embassy officials have been charged so far.

Two weeks ago, U.S. marshals in Wisconsin apprehended two Jordanians, Bilal Z. Shihadeh and Mohmud Z. Shehadeh, both 20, accused of entering the country using false Danish passports.

Citizens of western European countries, including Denmark, don't need visas to visit the United States because of international immigration agreements. Passports from those countries are in great demand among people trying to sneak into the United States, authorities said.

Shihadeh and Shehadeh had been living in Milwaukee with a relative who entered the country with a legal Brazilian passport.

Officials in Florida are prosecuting the men's case because they entered the country in that state.

Thanks for posting this.

One of these days we be able to connect the dots to why these left wing organizations support the ISLAMAKAZIS. There will be a blood money trail of petrol $'s from the Opecker Princes to all of these socialistic/communistic organizations. Also, all of these groups and their allies, the ISLAMAKAZIS hate America/Americans and would love to destroy our country and our families!

"There also were abortion-rights supporters, critical of Bush's views, and environmentalists who accused Bush and U.S. Senate candidate Norm Coleman of taking contributions from corporate polluters.

"Put an end to endless war," a sign read. "Money for housing not war," read another.

"Jessica Sundin, a spokeswoman for the Antiwar Committee.

There is no accident that these phoney non profits and their sheeple were blaming America for the mass murders of 3,000 Americans on 9/11 before the ashes stopped falling around the WTC and Pentagon.

What's the big deal?

They're only in America to do work that Americans refuse to do.

Besides, they've promised to vote straight Republican.

This embassy official, taking bribes dirung Clinton's watch....I just can't believe it, I tell you! Oh, wait...Clinton's in Morrocco right now, while their insane king Muhammad takes over small islands owned by Spain.

The blond in the photo is being assaulted by the Muslim. The Muslim's hands aren't visable, while one of the blonds hands is up at her chest, palm inward to protect what looks to be a purse, while both the Muslims arms are down...indicating the Muslim is clutching the blond woman against her will. In addition, the blond woman's head is pulled back to put as much distance between her and the Muslim as possible...within the limited space allowed because she's being restrained. Judging by the expression on her face, the Muslim is assaulting her with the "Breath of Death" move. Disgusting behavior by the Muslim. That letter to the editor is worse.

"corrupt officials at the embassy in Doha unwittingly helped Al Qaeda "

HUH? That's as stupid that 6 of the 7 had no ties to the 9-11 hijackers, then saying that 3 of the 7 LIVED with the 9-11 hijackers.

Is it me, or has the literacy rate among journalists dropped just a tad lately?

I was thinking the same thing -- it looks like a defensive posture -- she appears to be trying not to touch the beast, but the beast is "in her face," trying to provoke assault, perhaps.

Yep. My first thought was "Darn I hope she popped that b*tch," but on second thought, I guess she probably didn't, even though the Muslim obviously made the first move...because SHE'D have been arrested, then the Muslim could be "A Victim". Muslims really like victimhood. On the other hand, this incident might have gotten a little more media attention if she HAD popped her one.

Sure about that? I condsidered it, but keep reading and see my other quotes. I'm not positive your (and my rejected) interpretation is the case. Even it it was, I can transfer my "huh?" to the terrible writing skills of the author of the piece!

There was an explosion in the water plant by Navy Pier in Downtown Chicago a few days ago. But it was quickly dismissed as an accident.

First thing that came to my mind was that the government kept telling us that water treatment plants were potential terrorist targets. Then it happens and it is an isolated incident just like the July 4th shooting.

Do they have hanging trees in Wisconsin?

Unless things have changed a great deal since the last time I was there, yes they do.

As I recall, there are plenty of deer rifles too.

THANKS. I spent 15 minutes looks high and lo in the Star and could not find it. That is one of the most unpleasant/invading my space/ stankbreath photos I have ever seen. So annoying, the stupid arrogance of someone who just arrived in this nation.

I'm going to start a thread w/ it.
