Are you really so weak-minded that you think the majority is always right?

Another attack, flyervet?

Merely pointing out that most don't feel as you do.

Have you looked at *both* sides of the issue or only the father's side?

In other words, you're accusing me of becoming a feminazi.

Nope. I'm saying you share the anti-fatherhood agenda of the feminazis, which is far from the same thing.

You seem to have a hang-up on this. I'm beginning to suspect that you won't be happy until I actually call you a feminazi. I don't know if you are or not, but I do know when it comes to the role non-custodial fathers play in the lives of their children, you'd fit right in.

Let's, in the future, refrain from posting to one another. Deal?

You're the one who seems compelled to post multiple responses to my posts, even to the point of dragging me on to another thread. This is the second, or is it the third, time you've said you don't want to respond to me. Clearly you're the one with the problem. In deference to that, I will not post anything to you unless you specifically request me to, by posting to me in the first place.

Good night. Only three posts before, you said this:

So were you lying or are you just crazy?

Newdow reminds me of Barry Lynn, the head of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He POSES as a Christian minister, but I believe that he was born Jewish, worked for the ACLU, and decided he couldn;t go after Christians as a Jew, so he went to some divinty school and got the title Reverend, so he is "in the tent" and no one can complain on that front.

What Barry Lynn REALLY is is a JERK....and probably an ATHIEST!

There are so many fake Christians out in America claiming to be somewhat Christian. Many are priests, pastors, reverends, deacons and whatever.

You didn't reply to my question, flyervet. It's only a deal when both people agree. Play fair now. So...do we agree?

Well, lying or crazy, your powers of observation leave a lot to be desired. See post 103.

First you say I'm not worth the energy involved in responding. Fine, not a problem. Then you continue to respond several times. Okay. Then you say "Let's just not post at each other," All right. If you won't post at me, I won't post at you. Then you say, "You never responded, will you agree to stop posting at me or not?" Okay. So I point out where I agree to stop posting at you as long as you stop posting at me. Then, once again, you continue to post at me.

Either you are insane or you simply don't mean the things you write. In either event, I consider any insult from you to be a compliment of the highest order. I do hope that whatever brain fever or lapse in character passes, you will do your best to recover some semblance of personal dignity and limit yourself to posting only non-fiction. Good luck!

Flyervet...I didn't see in your posts where you agreed not to keep this discussion going. If I missed it I apologize. Let it be done now. Thank you.

You may think he's a lousy person but you can't deny the fact that he's bent over backwards to be a good father.

My question is what kind of man and father he is, if his former paramour would move 3,000 miles away from him in the first place. I suppose that answer will be revealed soon enough. Common sense would tell you he's not exactly a cuddly teddy bear.

I hope you're not suggesting that everyone be measured by the willingness, or lack thereof, of their former lovers to live near them. I know I wouldn't pass that test on all accounts, and I doubt I could be completely objective on some of the women who were once part of my life.

The risk you take in having sex with someone is that you may have a child with someone you might not always want to be around. However, once you have a child with someone, you are always connected to him or her.

This guy has proven by his behavior and the way he carries on about this issue, that he's quite the nasty piece of work. He's certainly not helping the cause of 'father's rights' if that is, indeed, his real beef. I wonder if his daughter loves him, or if it was she who begged Mom to get as far away from him as possible.

I grew up in an abusive household, and believe me there are times that it's the kids who beg Mom (or Dad) to get as far away as possible from the abusive parent.

Time will tell.

This guy has proven by his behavior and the way he carries on about this issue, that he's quite the nasty piece of work.

You're betraying your bias here. Lots of parents feel very passionately about certain causes. For instance, the Ohio parents in the school vouchers case took their cause all the way to the USSC. Why aren't they a "nasty piece of work"? Why isn't Darrell Scott, who lost one child at Columbine and has been on a crusade ever since, and even brought his surviving children in on this crusade, a "nasty piece of work"?

He's certainly not helping the cause of 'father's rights' if that is, indeed, his real beef.

He's a father who is doing the right thing by his child and campaigning to have oppressive anti-fatherhood laws changed. That's more than a lot of fathers have done to help the cause of father's rights.

I wonder if his daughter loves him, or if it was she who begged Mom to get as far away from him as possible.

It's equally fair to speculate as to whether his daughter loves her mother, who, after all, tried to rob her daughter of her father. But to this end, we're in the realm of speculation. Certainly we know that Michael Newdow has bent over backwards to support and be near his daughter. We also know that Michael Newdow has unsupervised visitation with his daughter, which is not an indicator of an abusive parent. You may not like Michael Newdow the man, but your dislike of him does not mean he is a bad father.

Please do not change the subject or ask for my opinion regarding others. We are discussing Michael Newdow.

I don't think he's doing the right thing, as you say, if he's the cause of his daughter's grief. Is he even considering what all this is doing to her? No, all he can think of is how this affects him. He's got his moment in the sun, and at his daughter's expense. Don't tell me he's not enjoying his 15 minutes of fame...now he wants to be immortal. It's not enough for him to be...shall we say...infamous??

As far as his being a "nasty piece of work," that's just my opinion--and you don't have to agree with it. I don't expect you to. And yes, perhaps I am biased, but only because I know first-hand what it is like to be a daughter living with an abusive father, and this man cuts it way too close.

Considering that you are constantly taking his side and defending him, even at the cost of looking bad yourself--as evidenced from some of the replies I've been reading on this thread--leads me to these conclusions; either you know this man personally, and/or you believe in his cause--which is fine. For all I know, maybe you're Mr. Newdow himself. However, others don't necessarily agree in this opinion forum and you are really going nowhere trying to convince them to think otherwise. We've already seen and experienced enough of this guy to last a lifetime.

Morever, I believe I have been civil in my discourse to you. However, there is no point in continuing this discussion if it deterioriates into personal attacks, accusations of bias and name-calling. The subject of this discussion is a very troubled man and in need of therapy, and I sincerely hope he gets it before he irreparably destroys all the precious relationships he does have. Otherwise his "victory" would be hollow if the day comes that his grown daughter wants nothing to do with him. Like I said, time will tell.
