This flows directly from our circumstances. The ideological-political Establishment, which is leftist, cannot bear to have its mistakes discussed candidly. Not only is their self-concept as morally superior saviors of the pullulating masses on the line, they've become too enamored of power to be willing to risk losing it, or even having it diminshed to Constitutional bounds. So they've resolved to fight dirty.
Ann Coulter's book Slander could be a nail for their coffin lids. Not the last nail, but not the first, and a good big one at that.
