Problem is if both parties are very far away from your views you are screwed. I'm not a single issue guy Bush has done a lot of things this year which piss me off. My criticism of him is basically that of Rush.

So, because Bush has pissed you off, you are going to undercut the rest of the party. I have to assume there are Republican politicians in the house or senate you do approve of. If they do not have a majority and a president that can back them, they may as well quit.

The point is, the party is not one man or one issue. Bush has done things that have pissed me off, too. But the direction the Dems would take us is far worse than what the Republicans would do. You have framed the issue as one of two bad choices. Well, sometimes that all you get. Sometimes you have to choose the lesser of "two evils", as some would put it. Choose the one that you can work with and have a hope of influencing the next time around.

I believe that the differences between the parties are much greater than some would like us to believe. Some of the things Bush has done that have pissed me off I have to concede because of the politcal situation in the Senate. On most issues I am in full accordance with most of the party. I differ significantly on a few others.

I would love nothing better than to vote for a party and politicians that agreed with everything I believe in. They do that in Europe. It results in splintered government where socialism usually wins out because of the neccessity to form coalitions (coalition is a polite term for "cluster f**k"). Is that what you want here? I don't.

Sometimes reality sucks. But you still have to deal with it - especially if you want to call yourself a conservative. Those that cannot handle reality generally vote Democrat. IMHO.
