"They have no hold on me."

Kinda like elctric guitars at a nuclear power protest.

Or better, a "no blood for oil" benefit concert.

And yours is to write knee jerk, 8,000,000 times.

My knee has not jerked on this issue. When I entered the workforce over 30 years ago, I worked with a few illegal Mexicans. The younger ones were teaching English to their elders. The young ones listened to American music and desperatly wanted to "be American."

About 10 years ago I noticed a trend - the young illegal Mexicans no longer listened to American music, but traditional Mexican music, and they spoke Spanish to each other. Efforts at assimilation had stopped.

A nation with two languages is two nations.

Will you support him anyway or are you gonna settle for the Democrat wobbler?

Actually, it will depend on whom the Demo nominate. So far, none of their team seem much better.

A strong, viable, non-single-issue, third-party candidate would deserve consideration. So far, none seem to exist there either. [60% of the adult population do not vote, so a 3-rd party has plenty of room to draw from those non-voters.]

From the current prospective field of candidates (all parties) for 2004, it appears politics as usual. None seem much better (or worse) than the next one.

We have a small community college, and the MECHA group have arrived and spouting their garbage and causing a tad bit of problem at the college. The local newspaper did a story on them, and all they could complain about was there was'nt many hispantic students enrolled and they should be given the chance to attend also. The president of the college, who has since quit and went to California, went to the state capital to press for legislation for in state tution for illegals. It did'nt get any where this year.
Who and what do the faces on the t shirts, they wear stand for? The reporter kept calling them hispantics, but the guy getting interviewed did not like it, he wanted to be called chicano, and the reporter kept calling them hispantic. lol
Our problem starts with the senate and house, who come up with all these cussed bills, and allow them to go to the president to sign into law. I believe every one that is up for election, or running for election should be asked what their stand is on the illegal immigration problem, and vote accordinly, regardless of whether they are dems or republicans. Fox is having a segment to nite at 9 eastern, on the illegal arabs coming across the southern border. I believe the show is called The Pulse, might want to watch it. Should record it and send to each and every senator and congressman or woman.

Best to hold the Whitehouse, retake the Senate so we can control the agenda and perhaps get some judges confirmed, build the majority in Congjress, and start whittling away at it.

Yep- this is a fifteen round championship main event and we are still in the opening rounds. Not time to go for the haymaker yet.

Opened a can of worms, didn't you?

I have to answer #12. I respect the President as he has the HARDEST JOB IN THE WORLD.

From what I've seen and heard, there's a LOT of armchair politicians on FR. They expound their theories and pound the pulpit of self-righteousness; reality and the process of law do not concern them.

Sure, I don't always agree with the President, but hey, I don't always agree with hubby poorman, mom, my co-workers, or you for that matter. It isn't a character flaw in a person that they don't march exclusively to MY drum.

When are the naysayers going to admit how close we came to disaster in November 2000? Imagine the hell this country would be with an Al Gore at the helm.
Placating terrorists still.
Blaming Americans for others' evil deeds.
Forced moves of those living in "sensitive" forest areas.
Punitive emission laws.
Total dependence on foreign oil.
The Kyoto Treaty signed and our future mortgaged.
The UN Commission trying US soldiers as war criminals.
A severe energy crisis.
Socialized medicine.
Total crackdown on gun ownership.

You could add a LOT more.

I couldn't handle my distant cousin's 14-hour-a-day workload; much less the pressure, media attacks (d@mn them), recalcitrant "allies", backbiting RINOs, backstabbing Dems (pond scum), disasters, world crises, security issues, terror threats, and "glass fishbowl" existence.

Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.

If I don't hate Bush I answer this one, correct?

Why should he be reelected?

I don’t want to “neg-out” on Bush. So let me pause to list my "what's wrong with the US list" before I answer (in declining importance).

1) Propaganda – The Dems have found a niche by releasing negative innuendos (seeded in focus groups) and waiting for the fire to start in the polls. The words “power” and “greed” are associated with the opposition (Republicans/Capitalists) rather than where they belong – with the emotionally challenged statists. Government is the solution, they say. Tax the rich! Pay your “fair” share. Turn in your guns. Everybody does it. Bush is dumb. Or the more subtle fear-based articles on “Big” tobacco, big business, Enron, global warming etc. Propaganda is only necessary when you’re wrong and you don’t want anyone to know it.
2) Courts. – The checks and balances of Congressional and Presidential power as envisioned by the Founders is remarkably seen as a conservative issue instead of a given. The “living/breathing Constitution” concept we’ve had since FDR packed the courts and X-ed out the 10th amendment has given the Dems another power source rather than a protection of our freedoms. They have found a way to nourish big government with a Constitution designed for a small government. Dems use the courts for advancing policy not only on feminism (abortion rights) and anti-Capitalism, but also the environment, anti-religion, “living wages”, work-place behavior, and of course the trial lawyers provide the big $$$$ in campaign finances.
3) Socialism. The incremental control of our lives and freedoms by the anointed ones. Education, retirement, and health care “insurance” are just the beginning.
4) Spending/Taxation. The graduated income tax provides a double whammy. The tax punishes capitalism, productivity and the economy and rewards Socialism voters.

There’s more, but I’m worn out. As you can see, liberals are the problem, not Bush.

Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.

Bush - Yes
