Good speculation. The massive drop in demand about 3:15 must've been due to the curtailing of industrial power use. Maybe someone skiped some steps in their emergency shut-down.

Thanks. Just trying to see if there are any dots to connect with another story that came out tonight:

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Refineries on Houston's ship channel have tightened up post-Sept. 11 security measures after authorities received an unconfirmed threat of an attack -- against non-existent refineries 1,500 miles away, officials said on Wednesday.

The bizarre circumstances that led to the stringent security measures is a tale of two cities: Pasadena, California and Pasadena, Texas. The initial threat, received over the weekend, specified a planned July 12 attack on oil refineries in Pasadena, California, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Wednesday.

Is any of this near Antioch?

I am in Antioch. I noticed an odd smell for a bit, but nothing now. There is a fair distance for this kind of thing to dissipate before it reaches us here.

>Don't forget about "Crockett." That was Davy's last name.

Right.  Davy Crockett died in San Antonio, Texas defending the Alamo [Span., = cottonwood].

San Antonio is currently recovering from damage from a flood which occurred right after Pres. Bush announced his goal to set-up up a Palestinian state in the middle of Israel.  He wants an abomination and a flood of demon possessed Muslims in the middle of Israel and he gets a flood in in the middle of his own land, Texas.  Sowing and reaping.

Crockett, David

Crockett (kròk´ît), David
Known as "Davy."  1786-1836
American frontiersman and politician who was a U.S. representative from Tennessee (1827-1831 and 1833-1835) and joined the Texas revolutionaries fighting against Mexico. He died at the siege of the Alamo.

The Alamo at San Antonio falls March 6 to a 4,000-man army commanded by the president of Mexico Gen. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, 40, after an 11-day siege. The 188-man force that has garrisoned the Franciscan mission includes William B. Travis, 26, Bowie knife inventor James Bowie, 39, and former U.S congressman from Tennessee David "Davy" Crockett, 49. The Mexicans sustain nearly 1,600 dead plus many wounded, spare 30 U.S. noncombatants, but kill the entire garrison, shooting five prisoners.

Just got back. LOL! Good question. When we saw the breaking news down here, we thought it was something big, they way they were talking about covering all the door gaps with towels, and telling everyone to get indoors etc. Guess it's business as usual.

As you were everyone, carry on....

Shelter-in-place order lifted after refinery incident

Contra Costa County health officials have downgraded a health alert at 4:17 p.m. today after a sudden power failure triggered a controlled shutdown of the Philips 66 refinery in Rodeo.

At 5:50 p.m., a shelter in place order was lifted after the plant's steam power generation system began working again.

Earlier, county occupational health specialist Jim Gallagher said the alert, the most serious of the three levels in use, means that a problem at the refinery has resulted in the release of materials beyond the site.

At midafternoon, a plume of dark smoke from the refinery could be spotted easily from upstream shoreline communities as it drifted east above the Sacramento River.

Gallagher said the county's Community Warning System sirens and its automatic telephone dialing system were both activated as a result of the incident, which refinery officials reported at 4 p.m.

Gallagher said the cause of the power failure that forced the shutdown is not yet known, but it could have been caused by today's high temperatures
