12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

However, you misrepresent my position. I am advocating slamming the brakes on, grabbing the wheel, and putting it in reverse.

That would be very nice, but I don't think it's going to happen right now, short of an armed revolution, and I don't see that happening either. I'm not prepared to give it all up...I think slowing it down til we turn it around is about the best we can hope for.

Besides, unless you're a stunt driver, sometimes slamming on the brakes is a recipe for a crash as well.

Giving up the analogy for a second, in the last election, all of the strict constitutionalists in the primaries put together couldn't get more than 5% of the vote - if that much. HOW can we reverse it on a dime if no one will vote for the constitutionalists?

I think taking back the USSC would be a good start, if we can get the Senate...and we're getting back towards local here.

I don't have to ping people onto this thread to defend me. There are plenty of people on this forum who had observed the abuse in question and spoke up about, without my calling them to the thread.

I apologize if this thread has turned into "a soap opera", but it wouldn't have to be if people would bring up stuff I have said in other inrelated threads to personally attack me.
