12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

"Some people are satisfied to believe whatever Halliburton Larry Klayman says."There, that's better.

Yep accounting is nothing but that easy math.No trig or calculus in any of the accounting courses I took. Mostly just 3rd grade variety math. :)
To: Iwo Jima
Twenty lashes for me for not pinging you.
My humble apologies.
Do I get any credit for telling Becky she was mean for stealing your post 2000 thunder?
You being so old and all, one would think that we ALL could have shown you some consideration on that.
To: Iwo Jima
Well, that is certainly a very helpful source when I come across some legal terms that I do not recognize.
I have only some knowledge in Constitutional law. I am a poli sci major, not a pre-law major.
To: Iwo Jima
BTW, all of the people here at the home are OUTRAGED that I was done out of my 2000th post. Of course, you know that the only reason that I lost was that I couldn't get my walker over to the keyboard fast enough. That was a dirty trick (obviously, some people around here are those mean-spirited conservatives, not compassionate ones), but don't worry...we're working to get it to 3000 for you.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
No, what are you talking about that government isn't doing enough?
There are set standards, and people can be tried for breaking the law.
How much more government control over industry do you want?
To: Iwo Jima
Thanks but it doesn't work all the time LOL. Now, do you know the answer to the question I asked in #2152? (I've been looking and looking and looking...)
Thanks in advance!
To: FreedominJesusChrist
And others are satisfied to believe whatever Larry says.
To: Luis Gonzalez
So why are you complaining about what Larry is doing?
To: Luis Gonzalez
Yes Luis, read one commerce clause case a night starting with Ogden v Maryland (I think that is the name, maybe it is McCulloch; the one thing I know is that it was not Gonzalez) instead of playing those silly computer games, and then eat your vegetables. Only then will you be physically and mentally equipped to deal with FIJC.

Yes, dear girl, you do get credit for telling Rebeckie that she is mean. I don't know why there is so little respect for one's elders nowadays.
Things have been really hectic here at the home. My "homeys" are all in an uproar about this injustice. You have never seen such a collection of wheelchairs, walkers, and IV poles, all ready to rumble. I only hope that the nurses come by with the nightly medications soon, because I don't know how much longer I can hold them back.
To: terilyn
You claim to be a "woman", yet you can't even understand a simple bit of humor, none of which accused you of anything. She sounds like my sister
Did I mention my sister is a card carrying Liberal

I want to know what the government can be doing to prevent companies from cooking the books.
To: FreedominJesusChrist; Amelia
I highly doubt that you two smoke. What was that about talking about a person behind their back ???
The least you could have done was ping me ..

I just did a quick read-up on the Commerce Clause in FindLaw.com.
I don't see where the Feds are given the power to monitor businesses closely enough to prevent illegal practices.
To: Iwo Jima
You poor thing.
We're all pulling for you. Just hold on a little longer and I'm sure the nurses will rescue you.
If things get really bad, just hold a picture of Larry in front of you and bark a lot. That should scare them off for a while. Especially if you pick one with the Matlock suit.
Ruff...ruff
To: Luis Gonzalez
Well, they should! We need bigger Government! What did George know, and when did he know it?
To: FreedominJesusChrist
"So why are you complaining about what Larry is doing?"He's far more crooked than any one of these companies could ever be.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
mmm...repost needed!!!
"So why are you complaining about what Larry is doing?"
Because Larry doesn't give a rat's ass about what's going on.
He's far more crooked than any one of these companies could ever be.
To: Luis Gonzalez
Well, I have never been supportive of an intrusive Orwellian government, but the fact of the matter is that our federal government has Independent Regulatory Commissions, which I believe, are pretty important because of their authority and particularily independent status. Within their areas of jurisdiction, these independent regulatory commissions do much of the establishing and enforcing of business regulations.
When I was referring to the government, what I should have referred to the SEC, because these Comission has the main duty of protecting investors against fraud and other investment malpractices.
