Halliburton Responds to Larry Klayman's Supersillyous Suit(My Title)
CBS Market Watch "Big Charts" Web Site ^ | 7/10/2002 | MarketWatch.com

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:04:03 AM PDT by SierraWasp

12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

Amelia, conservatives have been saying for years that the Clinton Administration was targeting various political organizations and publications, (NR being one) for solely political purposes.

Have you ever considered that these WorldCom shareholders obtained lawyers before they could be approached by Judicial Watch? Hmmm...

Actually, it's not about "obtaining lawyers"; this is about publicity for Judicial Watch.

How many Halliburton "shareholders" does Klayman represent in his quixotic crusade? It wouldn't surprise me if Klayman, or his stooge Russ Verney in Dallas, owned a couple of Halliburton shares, and these are his "shareholders."

WorldCom has no Bush administration connections, thus any lawsuit would be fruitless from a PR or fundraising standpoint.

And I do file a tax return, but I have my taxman and my dad do it for me, of course.

Your DAD does your tax return????

Good grief. You can't do it yourself?

The worst thing that Bush is doing in regards to this situation is by not intervening to stop this IRS audit. The actual audit notification came to Judicial Watch during the Clinton Administration, conveniently right when JW was investigating scandal within the Commerce Department.

"Actually, all Judicial Watch did was send notifications over their internet e-mail system. Two people approached them, not the other way around."

So which is it? Larry doesn't approach people or Larry does approach people? Hmmmm......

You only took about five posts that time to prove you are a spinner of facts. Too bad you're not better at it. Larry's going to have to find another PR person.

Well, I have stock and some other investments that I don't really give a hoot about at this point in my life.

Therefore, since my dad was the one who got me involved, he is also willing to watch it for me.

Stopping the audit would be precisely the kind of political act Bush should NOT take. If he had, while Klayman was a "conservative," it would have been off with his head, and I might have helped John McCain back then to commit the metaphorically political execution.

By the way, if CLinton started the audit, by now, it should be concluded. Why hasn't Larry told us the result, or has he?

Amelia, conservatives have been saying for years that the Clinton Administration was targeting various political organizations and publications, (NR being one) for solely political purposes.

Beckie, people have been saying for years that Clinton had "inconvenient" people killed, but so far no one has proven it.

So, somebody posted something on a past JW thread that a few years back, Congress passed a law protecting themselves from lawsuits such as this.

Can anybody verify that this is true or not?

"He chose to file this suit because it is the RIGHT thing to do."

If this is true, then Larry started filing suits against the Bush Administration because that's all that was left. Not because it is the "RIGHT thing to do".

Believe me, he doesn't mind filing my tax return or managing some other stuff. In fact, I think that he likes doing it, same as he likes taking my car into get the routine oil change or what not. I wouldn't mind doing it, but if he wants to, that's FINE with me.

I keep trying to play with the Paladin, always junk him and pick up good old Katúm the Barbarian.

I end up hacking and chopping my way to the old red lizard.

I don't play on Bnet. It's embarrasing to have some twelve-year old kick the crap out of you, then take all your stuff.

Deport, I have just as much of a right to comment on this situation as you do.

I don't suppose you are considered to be an expert in the field of accounting, or are you? If not, then please realize that your expertise in the matter is just as unsubstantiated as mine.

"Good grief. You can't do it yourself?"

It's all of those .25c or was it .45c posting royalties. They can be very confusing from an IRS standpoint.
