12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

I think Cheney needs to be held accountable personally for ANY mis-accounting deeds he did or allowed to happen.

Do you have any evidence whatsoever that there ARE any?

Do you agree with goldi's statement? Or do you have to qualify it in some way?

Larry's suit is a will o' the wisp and a sham, for a lot of reasons - not the least of which is a completely impossible set of allegations to prove, expert testimony he won't get, and stupidly popping his mouth off about his litigation - comments which will come back to bite his ass. If I were the judge, I'd slap a gag order on him so fast it would make his head spin, and the minute he violated it (which would be the first day), I'd throw him and Fitton in whatever holding facility they use in Dallas (probably the Dallas County Jail) for 180 days.

Counselor you are, of course correct.

There wasn't any Talking Point on her sheet that covered that so she had to improvise. She'll try harder next time.

Good morning, Cartoon Boy! I'm glad to see you too!

Sure I agree with goldi's statement.

I also think that you should be held personally accountable for any and all kiddy porn pictures that you've created and put on the web.

And don't say you haven't created any. The case hasn't been to court yet, so we just don't know, do we?

About the same as you might have about Ken Lay and Enron.

You understand, dubyaismypresident, that the kiss of death to Klayman & JW would be a gag order.

I mean when I saw Larry the K on Aaron Brown the other night, his hair had lost that ultra-poufiness of his early morning press conference and he was definitely moist, if not downright sweaty, in that upper lip/drippers area. It's doggone hard to race from one interview to another while having to actual legal work, you know.

But, well, if one has a real case, one doesn't have to try it in the press...and the stronger the case, the less you'll see and hear from the lawyer, especially in a high-profile case.

So true. Meaning he has no case and he is a publicity hound (almost used harsher wording there)

Lawyers with strong cases keep their mouths shut, even without a gag order. The most reporters get out those lawyers is a beatific smile.

I'd add "fund-raiser" to that "publicity hound" description.

BTW, you still haven't learned, again, the majority of what I do is Photo Composites. Is that too technical of terminology for you? If so, I suppose Cartoon Boy will have to do. You really teach kids? Must be Elementary right?

Not a lawyer. Sorry. My layman's two-bit opinion is that impeachment's a power of the legislature and can be used whatever way the legislature decides.

"No, I don't think FiJC would like OPH's answer on whether Cheney can be impeached for alleged crimes that occurred before he was VP, not one iota. It's not what he's going to say but how he's going to say it, if you get my drift."

Actually, I was just wondering if a public official may be impeached for misconduct comitted prior to their election to current public office.

I believe they can, as Article II, section 4, of the U.S. Constitution does not specifically put this limitation on the issue of Impeachment.

car·toon Pronunciation Key (kär-tn) n.

1. A drawing depicting a humorous situation, often accompanied by a caption.
2. A drawing representing current public figures or issues symbolically and often satirically: a political cartoon.

v. car·tooned, car·toon·ing, car·toons
v. intr.
To make humorous or satirical drawings.

It seems fairly accurate. Besides, Photo Composite Boy just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?
