VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY SUED PERSONALLY FOR ALLEGED STOCK FRAUD(By Judicial Watch)

(Washington, D.C.) Judicial Watch, the group that investigates and prosecutes corruption by government officials, announced today that it is filing a shareholders suit in Dallas, Texas, against Vice President Dick Cheney and the other involved directors of Halliburton, as well as Halliburton itself, for alleged fraudulent accounting practices which resulted in the overvaluation of the company’s shares, thereby deceiving investors and others.

The suit comes one day after President George W. Bush, who himself is enmeshed in allegations of insider trading when he was an executive, who sat on the audit committee of Harken Energy Company, announced a “plan” to crack down on corporate fraud. Ironically, it would appear that the President’s rush to propose more regulation of private industry is intended to deflect attention away from his and his Vice President’s own alleged improper business practices. President Bush has maintained that he was cleared by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Others have countered that the head of the agency was then an appointee of his father, President George H.W.Bush.

President Clinton and the Democratic Party used a similar gambit when they were caught taking money illegally from foreign donors, including the Communist Chinese. Instead of prosecuting vigorously the Clintons and other guilty politicians, new campaign finance laws were proposed to deflect attention away from alleged crimes.

“Whether it is the Enron, Arthur Andersen, Global Crossing, or now the Halliburton and Harken scandals, there is a dangerous intersection between politicians of all stripes, Democrat and Republican, attempting to feed at the trough of business greed. As is true of the Clinton scandals, the American people cannot look the other way just because the President and Vice President are allegedly involved. Indeed, Judicial Watch has already sued Democrat and Republican officials in the Enron and Global Crossing scandals. To look the other way for the Vice President would be to set a precedent that the Washington elite are above the law. This cannot be permitted if our democracy is to survive,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

In 1995 Halliburton was prosecuted and forced to plead guilty to trading with Libya, a terrorist state on the U.S. watch list.

A press conference will be held in Miami at 9:00 A.M. at the Sheraton Hotel at 495 Brickell Avenue to announce and detail this suit.

After this dispiscable action today, a calculated political smear of Cheney just like the October DUI ambush, are you STILL defending the Clay Man(check his feet)?

If so, please don't ever castigate anyone who 'fell' for the seductive lies of Clinton and Gore. Its no different, choosing to defend to the bitter end may be an admirable female trait when its a child or spouse, but Larry is clearly proving that he has zero scruples, credibility, justification, or underlying principles. At best he is like the dog that instinctively barks at its reflection in the mirror, never learning to discern reality from possibility. At best.

Remember, pride goes before a fall. There would be no shame in after some reflection changing your position and acknowledging that Larry and JW are not what they first appeared, not the heroic leaders striving for justice that they portrayed themselves to be. The Bible would not warn against wolves in sheeps clothing if they were always easy to identify. Satan often hides evil in the wrappings of grains of truth, noble aspirations.

All of us have had things we believe in turn out to be false. There is no loss in changing one's assessment and subsequent beliefs, in fact respect comes to those that learn from their experiences, strong persons who can say 'No' to those they hold most dear when they fall or fail. I hope you'll take some time and reexamine the whole Larry/JW issue. Who is he now, what has it become? Would he not sue Jesus for breaking the Sabbath? (I do NOT type this lightly or blasphemously.)

Perhaps Larry really did begin with the best intentions, only to like Saul become blind to corrosive elements, moving from servant to self-destructed. Its easy to let zeal and idealism so harden our certainties that we lose our sensitivity to warning signs. Many of us construct a worldview, and then find it difficult to entertain the possibility that one of our foundational pieces may be flawed, that we might have to go through the sometimes painful process of reconstructing a new worldview. Yet to fail to react can lead to dire consequences(Who would want to believe that a priest, pastor, or elder would commit unspeakable sins? Yet it does happen, and always must be confronted when it does.) Review the history of the many, many well-meaning early Christians who slipped into diverging sects that wandered far from the truth, from the followers of Simon to the Gnostics. It can happen to those with the best of intentions.

Larry has become Saul. Witness how he now throws the spears at David(GWB), unleashing his army on David and his followers. But the results will be the same. How long will you support Saul?

Bush Jr formed Arbusto Oil in mid 80's

Arbusto was failing and was sold to Spectrum 7 (Bush retained some ownership & involvement)

Spectrum 7 began to fail and was being sold to Harken Energy (owned mostly by Soros)

Spectrum 7 and Harken had about reached agreement when Enron announced it began producing from a field 10% owned still by Bush Jr via his interest in Spectrum 7. Ken Lay was in charge of Enron at this time, as I recollect.

The Spectrum/Harken deal fell apart and Spectrum/Enron managed the field together.

It is alleged (unproven to date) the volume of business Spectrum/Enron did was inflated.

Aside from the appearances Bush Sr. Jr, Soros, Ken Lay, etc, these transactions would have gotten little attention. But allegedly, some investors (I don't know in which companies) claim they were mislead. Again this is informed speculation, but I think this is the "smoking gun" such as it is.

Not much creditability, but it gives you an idea for the basis of the allegations.
