(Washington, D.C.) Judicial Watch, the group that investigates and prosecutes corruption by government officials, announced today that it is filing a shareholders suit in Dallas, Texas, against Vice President Dick Cheney and the other involved directors of Halliburton, as well as Halliburton itself, for alleged fraudulent accounting practices which resulted in the overvaluation of the companys shares, thereby deceiving investors and others.
The suit comes one day after President George W. Bush, who himself is enmeshed in allegations of insider trading when he was an executive, who sat on the audit committee of Harken Energy Company, announced a plan to crack down on corporate fraud. Ironically, it would appear that the Presidents rush to propose more regulation of private industry is intended to deflect attention away from his and his Vice Presidents own alleged improper business practices. President Bush has maintained that he was cleared by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Others have countered that the head of the agency was then an appointee of his father, President George H.W.Bush.
President Clinton and the Democratic Party used a similar gambit when they were caught taking money illegally from foreign donors, including the Communist Chinese. Instead of prosecuting vigorously the Clintons and other guilty politicians, new campaign finance laws were proposed to deflect attention away from alleged crimes.
Whether it is the Enron, Arthur Andersen, Global Crossing, or now the Halliburton and Harken scandals, there is a dangerous intersection between politicians of all stripes, Democrat and Republican, attempting to feed at the trough of business greed. As is true of the Clinton scandals, the American people cannot look the other way just because the President and Vice President are allegedly involved. Indeed, Judicial Watch has already sued Democrat and Republican officials in the Enron and Global Crossing scandals. To look the other way for the Vice President would be to set a precedent that the Washington elite are above the law. This cannot be permitted if our democracy is to survive, stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
In 1995 Halliburton was prosecuted and forced to plead guilty to trading with Libya, a terrorist state on the U.S. watch list.
A press conference will be held in Miami at 9:00 A.M. at the Sheraton Hotel at 495 Brickell Avenue to announce and detail this suit.
Wait! Larry already marketed one of these!
" Order the Illusion Watch. An authentic JW watch with disappearing and reappearing logo on the face. Black leather bands, black face with silver accents. Click here. $40.00 "
Donato and I talk very frequently. Trust me, there's no $100,000,000.00 anything anywhere in the future.
Not that I wouldn't like to see the Veep land a punch on someone's nose, however. A man who does a lot of fly-casting probably has a good arm. LOL!
I would like to mention one accomplishment by larry Klayman and Judicial Watch. Their suits forced to light a plethora of information regarding the Clinton Administration's handling of the investigation of the death of Ron Brown. Someone very close to me wrote an important article about Clinton's crimes, and the information forced to light by JW brought together a lot of the pieces of the puzzle.
I would also like to point out that Chinagate would not have come to light (and I think Ron Brown would likely be alive today) if not for JW's litigation.
They have the entire world against them, largely because we have become such a highly partisan, unprincipled people. Americans now tolerate official corruption, as long as their favorite Party is at the helm. I thank the criminal Liberals for this fatal change in America's population.
I have previously been highly suspicious of JW's lack of victories in their lawsuits. I have never given them money. I am just recently realizing that winning lawsuits truly is not their aim, but to be the only mosquito with the cajones to harrass official criminals, and to force truth to the open air for any of us who give a damn about truth. I like the fact that they dion't give a damn that most Americans hate them because they are not partisan. Doing a thankless job because one believes it is the right thing to do is heroic, in my book.
NOW, I may find out that JW, after their initial success in forcing to light some of the crimes of the Clinton Crime Machine, is now trying to just muster money for their own pleasures. After all, money does have a tendency to corrupt. If this is true, I will repent from my support of JW. But the pain they afflicted (mitigated by an apathetic and selfish American public) on the Clinton Administration cannot be taken away from them. Also, it seems like there are a lot easier, more popular ways to scam people from their money, if that is indeed what they are doing.
I think that if the vast majority of the American public was not either completely apathetic, or caught up in the spirit of Party (that George Washington so urgently and presciently warned us against), Larry Klayman (and probably his whole family) would be dead already. That's the way these criminals play, when you REALLY threaten them. Klayman is not a threat, because truth is not something for which Americans by and large have any use.
Love and peace, Agrandis
No $100,000,000.00?
I'm not sure I understand. I remember watching the press conference when Larry filed the lawsuit. Didn't Larry say $100,000,000.00?
You ought to look closely at some other threads. There is plenty of insult to go around.
BTW, no one likes a snitch. I suppose I should say most regular people don't. Klayman is probably the exception.
