I don't know about the rest of you, but my daughter has a remarkable sense of self esteem. We haven't had the slutty let-it-all-hang out problem with her wardrobe, because she hasn't felt the need to draw attention to herself by dressing to shock.

Tricky subject.

Girls were revealing outfits for a whole set of reasons: they like the attention, they feel sexy, they like to rebel against authority (but not peer pressure), finally peer pressure.

I work with an 18 year-old lesbian who wears revealing outfits and flirts with me. Go figure that out.

Franhly, as a 25-year-old man, I'm torn. I like attractive women wearing next to nothng. (I hate it when fat or ugly girls do).

On the other hand, I'm a social conservative who dissaproves of such things, especially when my younger sister is wearing revealing outfits. (I almost beat up the first boy I caught leering at my sis when she was 13. It was a good thing my sister grabbed the bike lock.)
ironically, my sister, who is now 21, is beginning to have reservations. She is a camp counselor and is revolted by 8 or 10 year old girls dressing like Brtiney Spears.

As for the double standard, blame nature or God or whatever you want. Girls become pregnant, guys don't. Both get STD's.
