I think it was a Freudian slip, he knows that everyone has been calling him "little Tommy" and he was feeling particularly like a child in an adult world.

Can I infer that you are NOT out for profit?
To: Lightnin
Only if you can cite Howlin implying that.
To: chookter
Would you work for a company with a CEO who doesn't pursue profit? Did you listen to ANY of the President's speech????

Okay, they're gonna start holding "Big Corporation" responsible. My question is when are they going to hold "Big Government" responsible for something?

What is that line from the "Rock Opera", something like, "couldn't make it, couldn't fake it, ....never will?"

Go to ReformPartyOrphansWhoHateAmerica24/7.com! I think you have me confused with someone else. I simply have real heartburn with condemning CEO's for pursuing profit rather than condemning them for crooked Clintonian ethics.
To: ladtx
Wise generals/admirals never start a war in the middle of summer in a Middle East country.
The Reform Party Orphans don't believe that President Bush means what he has said about PreEmptive strikes and other ways to make chicken parts and pieces out of them.
However, the thugs in charge of Iran, Iraq and Syria, know that he means what he says.
Besides that, we had to rearm our Navy, Air Force, Marine and Army. We basically used the few items left by 8 years of the Clintoon. New and better ways to kill the Islamic Thugs are being made and shipped over each day to deliver special Candy Grams to these thugs, and they know it!

Pursuing profits isn't crooked. Doing crooked things to produce those profits is. I am not a simpleton, and if you cannot understand that this has a LOT of people upset, all across the political spectrum, then you are not understanding how important this whole issue is.
In addition, a task force on this run by the DOJ will get us some quick action against those who are looting companies.
By the way, are you saying that being crooked is ok because we don't have a Congressional declaration of war? Are you saying that people who cook the books to show phony profits and then bankrupt their companies are ok because they are pursuing profit? Surely you don't mean that.
To: Lee_Atwater
Thank you for your thoughts on this. It shows just how far the RATS and the media will go in order to smear the President. I hope Freepers and lurkers talk to everyone they know about this issue. We MUST fight back!

$3,400,000,000,000 Of Taxpayers' Money Is Missing , one year...1998, Feds. lost over a TRILLION taxpayers $$$$. Couldn't even give accounting information....no one goes to jail, no one investigates...
WHO IS GOING TO GET THIS FACT TO BILL O'REILLY????
WHO IS GOING TO GET THIS FACT TO RUSH????
WHO IS GOING TO GET THIS FACT TO BRIT HUME????
WHO IS GOING TO GET THIS FACT TO LOU DOBBS???
WHO IS GOING TO GET THIS FACT TO THEIR CONGRESSMAN OR WOMAN TODAY AS THEY MOUNT THEIR ASSAULT ON CAPITALISM???
WHO IS GOING TO EVEN GET THIS FACT TO OUR PRESIDENT'S STAFF?

Bush DID NOT say there was anything wrong with making a profit .. AS LONG AS IT IS DONE HONESTLY

By the way, you are NOT driving me crazy! LOL! You have more fortitude than I do....I cannot stand to watch CNN. You provide a valuable service by telling us what those clymers are saying.
I still say the quickest way to get this reversed is to go after the advertisers in papers and local TV. They are VERY sensitive to loss of sales right now, and I think we could have some effect by calling and writing advertisers.
To: Lightnin
Where did I say anything close to that?

He said he didn't like some of W's language. Said W said "excessive profits cause corruption" or something to that effect. Rush totally missed the overall tone of the speech.
Also didn't like the idea of "independent BODs." I have no idea what his gripe is. He was just mouthing off without any real idea of what he was talking about.

The part about analysts pushing weak companies that just happen to be contracting to those same analysts, would that apply to gold bugs as well?
To: Miss Marple
By the way, are you saying that being crooked is ok because we don't have a Congressional declaration of war? 'War Profeiteering' has a very specific legal definition and doesn't enter into this at all. As far as the 'time of war' stuff goes, we are becoming more zealous as a nation about 'financially profiling' (my phrase) CEO's than racially profiling terrorists. The world is upside down and I'm getting dizzy.
Are you saying that people who cook the books to show phony profits and then bankrupt their companies are ok because they are pursuing profit? Surely you don't mean that.
No, but those that pursue profit should not be financially profiled and investigated for cooking the books simply because they one of those eeeeeevil CEO's.
Furthermore, to investigate all companies that go bankrupt will put the brakes on America's economic engine because great profit entails risk. If you outlaw the downside of risk, you have killed profitability.

"Love of money is the root of all evil"
...often gets twisted around. Rush doesn't seem to know the difference between that and "money is the root of all evil". Of course I have shared before my thoughts on the source of most of Rush's ideas...
To: Wait4Truth
Thank you, I just thought a personal story from an everyday person would help place some perspective. The point is, honest mistakes are made everyday. In this case, the government was doing its job.
