Georgia Bump!

Bike ride anyone!?

Barnes will easily prevail in this matter because many GA whites have turned "anti-Confederate." They either feel embarrassed about the legacy of their Confederate ancestors, but more probably they just want their "fair share" of the subsidies that come from state and national governments.
To: Theodore R.
GA is the only state in the South that has never had a Republican governor, and Barnes knows history is on his side. People in GA prefer Democrats 4-1 over Republicans, occasionally, 3-2.

The biggest PR problem you guys have is that many outside the South associate the Confederate flag with the KKK and, ergo, racism. You guys need to work or re-educating the public and on speaking out to disassociate yourselve from the racists.

That flag represents adherence to slavery. It flew over states that believed in slavery and were willing to divide this nation to keep it. It is a affront to millions of Americans.

I think we are - historians are delving into black confederate ancestors. A silent majority are quietly supporting the South, her heritage, and those conservative values. Every attack by the liberals drives more folks to Dixie's side. The SCV and other organizations disassociate themselves with racism - in fact many minorities are involved in Confederate support.
Of course the liberal media loves to associate the CBF with racism - it's an uphill battle. I definetly think the key is education!
Notice the "flaggers" in the article have the CBF, Old Glory, and THE GA state flag displayed! I also found it interesting the passers-by were the most violent and obsence, NOT the flaggers!

Thanks for supporting the South!

It flew over states that believed in slavery And the US flag flew over EVERY slave ship to touch the borders of this nation. Didn't see abe getting rid of it at the beginning of the war did you? Didn't see any northern states inviting runaway slaves over the border did you? No, as a matter of fact most of those states had laws against free blacks living in their states long before the war. By the shrill tone of the attack, I'm going to guess LLANEY?

Anti-Confederate?
Why support a legacy of slaveholding losers who couldn't get it together enough to even have a standard gauge of railroad tracks, and got their heads kicked in my a bunch of blue coats from Boston and New York?
Plus, the Falcons stink.

Barnes will easily prevail in this matter because many GA whites have turned "anti-Confederate." They either feel embarrassed about the legacy of their Confederate ancestors... If Georgia these days is anything like North Carolina, many Georgia whites don't have Confederate ancestors and are anti-Confederate or simply don't care. That's transplanted Yankees, immigrants, and people descended from post-bellum immigrants.

As long as the GOP sees "The Flag" as their #1 electoral issue in Georgia they will remain a minority in that state.
Go ahead, run on "The Flag" and when you get your butts handed to you on election day you only have to look in the mirror to find the reason why.
To: Phantom Lord
Actually the GOP is distancing itself from the GA state flag issue.

Look, lifetime slavery was a abomination. The indentured servitude it subsumed was reasonable, livable -- but that lifetime slavery made a mockery of human respect for fellow humans. It was a black man who first sued in court to make his indentured slaves, slaves for life. He won. That became a very bad thing and black African descendants suffered great prejudice and pain because of that -- the horrors of lifetime slavery telescoped onto descendants of black Africans and whites seems to have been kept out of that terrible oppression.
There is no denying that many southerners were racist -- so were many NORTHERNERS and the racism of the northerner, to my view, is the worst and continues in our day. Few men of the South to my experience fail to have great respect to any man of any race once he proves himself. Whereas in the north you will find -- especially among liberals -- a well-hidden far deeper racism where they can almost never accept a man who is of the wrong race or class no matter how well he proves himself.
But what that rebel flag stood for -- to a far far greater degree than any base racist sentiment -- was State's Rights. A noble cause.

You guys need to work or re-educating the public and on speaking out to disassociate yourselve from the racists. When the flag was coopted by hate groups without a fight from those who claim that it is heratige and not hate they lost the rights to the flag in my opinion.
For far to long it was freely associated with the Klan and other hate groups with nary a protest. They failed to fight to keep their image of the flag and allowed it to be taken over by these groups.
They have lost their franchise through their inaction.

The US Flag flew over the slave states far longer than the "Confederate Flag" did if were interested in any kind of historical accuracy.
To: NationUnderGod
That flag represents adherence to slavery. It flew over states that believed in slavery and were willing to divide this nation to keep it. It is a affront to millions of Americans. That's true, though of course several stars have been added to the U.S. flag since those days. But it's still Old Glory.
It's easy to see why you'd find it offensive though. I feel the same way about the Red Star on the California flag, a reminder to me of hated Communist slavery and the enemies who put two bullet holes in my body, even though the CA flag predates that foul slave state.

That's transplanted Yankees, immigrants, and people descended from post-bellum immigrants. And they have caused 150 years of uninterrupted rule by democrats how?
