The Associated Press Monday, July 8, 2002; 10:21 AM LOS ANGELES ?? An amateur video shows Inglewood police officers punching a teenager and slamming his head against the hood of a patrol car, and the department said it will investigate.
The probe was announced Sunday after the tape, taken a day earlier from a nearby motel, was turned over to police and local media.

And you would do what? Kid glove, "talk" to the "poor child"?
More pacifist gibberish?

I would also be willing to bet that resisting arrest is involved. Actually, what the tape shows is the kid (not "kid") being sort of frog-marched/carried a distance to the squad car and slammed face-first into it.
It's remarkable cuz the kid wasn't even slightly struggling (maybe he got whipped more before the tape was rolling).
You gotta admit though, it's really brave and manly to pop a guy whose hands are cuffed behind him.

So, is it okay to fight with the cops?

So the cops walked up and started swinging because IPD is made up of rogue racist cops? Who said anything about racist cops?

I'd say it depends on circumstances... ;0)

I agree with you on this one. That kid got SLAMMED onto that car. That looked quite painful. And the punch was unnecessary, he wasn't resisting.

FIVE COPS there, the teen is in handcuffs..
No mercy from me for this cop. And as far as the teen goes, I don't care what he did.
If you have to harm someone to put them in custody or to protect others, fine. We endorce that.
But to beat them afterwards is not cool. I think this cop should be prosecuted.. And I don't care about his "feewings" or how "stressful" his job is.
Ya know, If we wanted a 5 man hit squad to go arbitrairly beat people up then we would simply hired one in the first place.

Well, when it's at the top of the news, I consider that to be breaking. My apologies for offending you.......

So, is it okay to fight with the cops? How do you know that he fought with the cops?
How do you know that he didn't fight with the cops?

I saw it. It Looks Bad. I saw the scratch on the cops face about 3 to 4 inches long.

They (ABC radio) just reported that the officer has been suspended.
To: EggsAckley
I saw some of the reported video on Fox. They did show a close up of one of the police officers who had a cut above his left ear. The reporter, (think it was Linda Vester), noted that the video did not contain footage of this injury when it occurred.
I'm curious. Just what school subject teaches that when confronted by police you should attack. West Side Story was on this weekend but even those gangs knew that you didn't mess with Officer Krumpky!

How do you know that he fought with the cops?On the report I saw, the announcer said that the cop who slammed the kid had a 2-3 in. gash above his left ear. It did look like there was a wound there. How come they didn't beat up the driver, also?
To: rwb
I saw a policeman with blood on his face, but no mention of the blood by any of the ABC newscasters.
To: EggsAckley
And this is a problem why?
Seriously, while it would be abuse of power if this was the whole story, at least the kid would get some punishment.
But, I doubt it is the whole story.

Like I said earlier, if you want to kick someone's ass, you don't shackle them first. Continuing to fight someone after they are subdued is a quick way to lose job and pension.
To: EggsAckley
Is there footage before they put the kid on the ground? - If there is I haven't seen it. The footage I have seen just doesn't make me mad...
I am ticked that the news has been showing snippets... a fews seconds at a time, so you can't really tell what is happening.
Adrenaline is a real thing, and those cops were full of it after a scuffle with the kid. Looks like the cop picked the kid up off the ground and put him on the car with a bit of gusto, but I don't see Rodney King in this one.
To: rwb
You mean to tell me that the police have no right to defend themselves?
TYPICAL LIBERTARIAN. No wonder you can't win elections.....you are such a sick group of cop-hating, drug-sniffing, sexually immoral hippies.
